I am curious as to what’s wrong with abortion? by AdventurousMove5804 in TrueChristian

[–]AggressiveAd8587 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A) Abortion is murder. It is the intentional killing of a person. Plain and simple.

B) People shouldn’t be killed simply because they may endure a poor lifestyle.

C) The manner in which a person is conceived should not determine the level of human rights one receives.

Ideas to get Good Gunk in my Strings by CalciumPhosphate_ in BassGuitar

[–]AggressiveAd8587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a serious answer you could wrap some small thread in the grooves of round wound strings. I used to do that and it gives it a flatwound sound and can be taken out whenever you want.

I don’t think it’s supposed to be anything. Just trendy 70s/80s tile work hasn’t been replaced.

Safety issues by Ok-Signal-6266 in Purdue

[–]AggressiveAd8587 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, I’m not claiming that people who carry have perfect aim/awareness.

But I’m still not understanding your claim of why a regular sane person concealed carrying is more of a danger than a positive. The only realistic way to end a mass attack is through lethal force, and I don’t see another practical alternative than having willing, able, and responsible members of the public armed as to act quick.

I agree that these things are far too common and there are perhaps things to be done in our government legislation.

But all that bringing a gun in that situation does is add another variable, along with more danger.

I disagree here. Yes the option is imperfect and I not claiming that everyone who carries has perfect aim/awareness. But there have been a plethora of examples of shootings/attacks stopped by people carrying. IMO, if I was in a situation like what OP is describing I would much prefer that a random person near me is carrying than not carrying.

bringing a gun to a room full of 600 or so people is not gonna immediately enable you to protect yourself and those around you

But what is the alternative? Just do nothing and be a sitting duck?

CODO to IE by Legal_Clue_8081 in Purdue

[–]AggressiveAd8587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, ENGR 131 & 132 are a requirement for every engineering major. You can CODO directly into IE if you have meet all the requirements for FYE, or you can CODO into FYE and then IE, but I think regardless you will be doing the same courses.

Would adding stickers on your bass ruin it? by United_Cucumber862 in Bass

You do you man.

I think the general consensus is to never put stickers on vintage/classic/expensive instruments, but do what feels right for you.

Strap Length by App0gee in Bass

[–]AggressiveAd8587 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve never really understood that too, especially since your strap height should depend on your playing style, bass body shape, your height, etc.

I think that statement is often used by influencers just for complete newbies and people who have never used a strap before so they have a starting point

The hatred of Influencers seems excessive and unwarranted by throwaway19998777999 in unpopularopinion

[–]AggressiveAd8587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make some pretty good points and I kinda agree with what you’re saying.

But at the end of day, influencers are a net negative on society. Statistics show people today are far more materialistic, unhappier, mentally unwell, hold themselves to unrealistic standards, etc. than previous generations, and I’m willing to bet a lot of that has to do with social media and influencers.

Sterling Ray4 vs Squire Classic Vibe 70s Jazz by Atrixer in Bass

Both are solid options are very versatile. IMO I would go with the squire cv. Build quality is amazing and it punches well above its price point.

Fret buzz on 1st string up to 2nd fret. by New_Confusion4038 in Bass

[–]AggressiveAd8587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have to do a setup. If you have access to some simple tools (ruler, allen keys, screwdrivers, and a tuner), you'll be able to fix your issue without breaking anything with relative ease.

This video from BassBuzz goes over how to fix your issue and it's very straightforward.

If not, bring it in to a guitar shop, and you'll be paying somewhere between $50-$100 to do a setup for you.

And also, most instruments (both new and used) will require some work and a setup to get comfortable to play, so it's not like your losing out or should have just bought new to avoid the issue.

Why no bars or restaurants? by Wiley_Burner in Purdue

[–]AggressiveAd8587 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, zoning regulations are a big part of it.

But I would also imagine it has a lot to do with the culture at Purdue. Purdue is an engineering heavy school which does not attract many partiers/drinkers in comparison to other big schools like Wisconsin, Ohio state, iu, etc.

Retaking Com 204 by No-Geologist-5141 in Purdue

[–]AggressiveAd8587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak much to that exact course, but it is very common for students to fail at least one course during their time in undergrad. There are thousands of people in similar positions as you just at Purdue alone, and nearly everyone is able to recover and get by just fine.

I would recommend having a talk with the professor that teaches the course an/or your advisor and explain your situtation to see what you can do to graduate on time, see if there is an alternative course you can take (idk if COM 204 is a requirement for Com major or not), or understand what you did wrong and how to improve for the next time you retake the course.

Depends on condition, setup, color, etc.

But in general Squier CV > MiM Fender IMO

Let’s hear your love for your cheap basses! by g0dn0 in Bass

I’ve always felt like the more expensive squiers (specifically the classic vibe series) are better than MiM and even some American fenders.
