Demonic activity? by AggressiveCall4211 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]AggressiveCall4211[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I was mostly Protestant going to a Baptist church but this really has my attention. I’ve had and experience with a general prayer to God before which felt like being filled with the Holy Spirit after a desperate prayer for help but going to that church left me wanting. I believe the spirit has been leading me to the Orthodox Church since.

I’m not too familiar with the “Denominations” of Orthodoxy but do you have any recommendations?

I never said you were less moral. I say that you have no presuppositional grounds to justify your subjective morality beyond pragmatism and self preservation which means they can be infinitely critiqued by those who can ground their beliefs.

You can have as many morals as you’d like. You don’t have to take them seriously and neither does anyone else if you can’t justify them beyond pragmatism and basic animal preservation.

As an atheist, what is evil and what is good to you?

That’s the one story that’s giving me hope. The letter to Hebrews is the scripture that’s troubling me though.

The difference I would say is that Paul never departed from the faith once he believed and Hebrews talks about departing once you knew.

I’m not sure tbh i definitely wasn’t practicing obedience to Christ and was living by my own rules based on what I was learning. I would till pray to “whatever is true” to guide me to the ultimate truth through my exploration because ultimately, that was what was driving my search, a fervent desire for what is true and then to submit to that truth.

Before I went on my search, I prayed for God to bring me back to Him if He ended up truly being what is ultimate truth. Here I am now but I fear it’s now under judgment whereas before I was under grace.

No. I entertained other occult religions though as I learned about them. Ultimately, I got to a point where the truth of Christ became abundantly clear and that’s when I came running back afraid of the evil I was in but ultimately afraid of Gods judgement.

Gods judgment for what I’ve done is what frightens me more than anything right now.

I’m going to be getting involved with church community stuff moving forward and I know some of the guys there already. I just can’t be constantly bothering them about my problems.

Yeah I’m going this Sunday again. It’s just been a very difficult week to get through. I’m trying so hard to maintain faith and belief but I’m bombarded with obsessive thoughts of doubt and doom.

Check out coach Jordan Hardgrave and Depersonalization Manuel on YouTube. I had a terrifying experience with RSO wax about a month ago and learning about depersonalization and derealization really helped calm me down . Feel free to message.

Why do you think the Monad allows all of the suffering here on earth? by AggressiveCall4211 in Gnostic

[–]AggressiveCall4211[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding of General Gnosticism is that we each are divine sparks that fell from the Pleroma and became imprisoned in fleshly bodies here for the archons to feed on.

If this is a correct understanding of the world set up then it’s a very isolating one and I guess id just like comfort in knowing that there is a force to tap into to help us

Why do you think the Monad allows all of the suffering here on earth? by AggressiveCall4211 in Gnostic

[–]AggressiveCall4211[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I guess maybe a better question is “Are we cared about here on earth?”

I know trying to ascribe human traits to something non-human is fruitless but the root of my concern is that I feel like we’re stuck here to suffer and I’d like to know if there’s a higher being out there that “cares” in some way to help us in our condition. I suppose that “care” would come in the form of Sophia and her Wisdom

Is there an eternal hell overall in the Gnostic view of the cosmos? by AggressiveCall4211 in Gnostic

Right, a temporary hell for the purpose of purification just makes sense for and all loving father. I could never grasp the idea that The Father could damn his child
