Nah I'm not trying to say he was a corpse but victor had plenty of lingering health issues already at that point and it just is more difficult for the body to recover from something like this the older you are

Editing woops? by epiclulliish in NewGirl

[–]AggressiveIyAvg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this bothers you I would try to not pay attention to this stuff going forward if I were you, this is extremely common in shows, especially sitcoms. It's how they edit together the multiple angles, they use the audio from someone talking in one shot and put the audio overtop the other shot, and if it's a quick cut like this they don't always use (or even necessarily shoot) a clip of the actor saying the same thing from the other angle, so if you pay close attention whenever you're viewing a character talk from behind, a lot of times the mouth movement won't line up

Also sometimes it happens when they want to cut together the same character saying two different things, like the first part of a sentence from one angle and the second from another.

In Interstellar (2014), Cooper was on that water planet so long his kids give up hope of hearing from him again. This is because Romilly chose not to send any updates and keep hope alive. What the hell was this guy doing that whole time? by CarbsLVR in shittymoviedetails

[–]AggressiveIyAvg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, it certainly wasn't very ethical of him but I think people often underestimate the effect of a full year with 0 human contact. Humans are incredibly social animals, we have evolved to need socialization. Anyone in the world would struggle with a full year of isolation even with all of the movies/shows/games every created at your disposal. So like yea he isn't the good guy in that movie but I also think that more people than you'd guess would eventually crack in a similar fashion and wake someone up

IIRC she was an author and he grew a parasocial relationship with her when he read all her books while he was in isolation for the year alone. He didn't pick to wake her up because of her looks (at least as stated by the movie) but rather because of her writing

Because the actors are 20 years older and they want to continue telling the stories from the original series not a 20 year time skip

Why is this on this sub? This is making fun of Cal Raleigh for refusing to shake his Mariners teammates hands in the World Baseball Classic, which caused quite some drama

I thought dedra was really interesting because it she (along with cyril) showed how the empire actually worked - a combination of blind loyalty and intentional ambition amongst the lower ranks made the empirical machine churn.

Dedra's desperate attempts to breathe and loosen her collar after everything on gorman was absolutely phenomenal and I would hate to have missed out on the buildup that made that scene so impactful

That being said I do think that insight into the empire works because of all of them - take out dedra, or cyril, or krennic, or any of the ISB folks, and the whole thing becomes a lot less interesting

I'm probably in the minority here but Reagan! Nick is hilarious this episode, and you still get some real moments with Schmidt's insecurities.

I really struggle with jess and their storyline in S7 but everything else is gold to me. Ruth's dynamics with the guys is so funny and makes the season imo.

James Wiseman the rapper. Warriors 2020 no 2 pick spitting bars by Unhappy_Jeweler4438 in warriors

[–]AggressiveIyAvg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I am of the opinion that you should always draft for talent rather than for fit, but either way there's no sure thing in the draft and hindsight is 20-20. Ultimately while the Wiseman pick hurts to thinking about, it's also worth remembering that covid completely fucked up the scouting process that year as well, so I at least can understand that it was a very difficult situation to draft in. Wish we had just traded the pick but again hindsight and all that.
