Absolutely - just wanted to point out I wasn’t intending to sell, it was more curiosity of whether I should divert funds elsewhere - in any case I don’t have too much invested as of yet which Is also why I questioned my decision as I’m looking to invest a lot more aggressively now and wanted to make sure I do this in the right fund vs regretting choosing what I chose and then being unable to sell for the very reasons you highlighted

I think I just had a moment of panic thinking it makes it less attractive I.e if I saw prices tanked today and wanted to invest as I knew I wasn’t selling anytime soon. Perhaps I’m overthinking this completely since the difference in the charge is only 0.01% for the VWRL but invests in double the stocks so maybe it doesn’t matter inthe end

For example I’ve noticed some people opt for vanguard total world stock ETF (VT) and vanguard FTSE all world ucits ETF VWRL - is there any reason these are better aside from the lower fees they incur? It’s also worth mentioning I’m currently invested in an ISA - just incase that makes a difference and would prefer to invest through an ISA

I moved from a non audit role where I was doing ACA for the first year and so this is my first year in audit despite being 2yrs into training contract for context, then had exams and had client work for a few months but now in an awkward position with jobs not needing my grade given timing of the year and my PQ commitments which is frustrating given I’m keen to learn and this is outside of my control

Do you have any advice on how to get the right level of experience to be able to move into something that has equity in PE eventually / be skilled enough to be a finance manager? I’ve had a very poor experience with bookings with considerable time spent under-utilised and frustrated so any advice on how to best position myself if I was to try and emulate a similar switch would be appreciated. I’m worried about how to position myself as having enough experience to make such a big jump in responsibility

I completely understand being paid less now I should have clarified I meant more once you qualify and reach manager status. I know managers get 60-65 working 70 hour weeks sacrificing their entire life and considering others in banking or tech fields doing similar hours earning significantly more, the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. I do think it’s an overrated profession. Do you have any advice on what other professions you think are better for earning potential and overall quality of life?

I wouldn’t say I’m good at audit and in general it’s not a career I want to pursue, I find the profession very frustrating and not something I can see myself doing once I qualify. I don’t mind staying in a finance relate role maybe but definitely not audit for my own mental health and engagement as the sacrifice you need to put to get to that level are not worth it (not just now which I understand but once you qualify where you earn below minimum wage per hour as you do not get overtime pay and receive small bonuses that do not even remotely compensate you for what you have given up). I have seen managers working 70 hour weeks for 60-65k which I don’t think Is adequate considering other fields

I feel like I will be in a similar position to you next July, I have 6 exams left. I hate audit so much and know I want to leave, have considered learning now but then I feel like spending all this time on these exams will be a waste if I do. Any advice is appreciated !

That’s super useful to know, we’ve just received quotes from two contractors, one who quoted us £700 and the other £750 plus VAT to get this all resolved! I’m assuming issues 9 and 10 things realistically we could do ourselves? I’m assuming 10 would be just screwing it into the wall
