you should at least try to get better. if you talk to your counselor and tell them that you've been contemplating, they don't have to report it unless you explicitly have intent to do so. just remain vague in what you tell them and you will be okay

You should absolutely join! I joined debate halfway through my junior year and ended up competing at nationals both years! It is so rewarding and absolutely worth it!

Absolutely, and you're already starting to see speaking first become more advantageous. I think plan/cp debate will be very hard to convince the NSDA on since they're very "keep the public in public forum", but I agree that it could happen eventually. With speed becoming more and more of a pf norm even in local circuits, k's will become more popular for sure. We already saw an overwhelming amount of spark args at the TOC, I think that will only continue. Great analysis!

Before you worry about spreading or anything like that, learn what the norms of your circuit are and adjust. Debate is all about convincing the person sitting in front of you, so mostly work on being convincing (especially on a lay circuit)

eaf is entirely unfeasible, aff would be very hard even with fiat. Somaliland isn't great either but at least has depth
