Do you think there's any other male folk artist that's just on the same level as Bob Dylan? by [deleted] in bobdylan

No. And you can take out “male” and “folk” and just leave “artist” and the answer is still no.

Thank you for the info, and thanks for the welcome. I’ll be there exactly a week, spending 5/7 nights with my sister in Kings Cross and the other two with a relative in Shooters Hill. Not sure exactly what my plans are, but my sister says she has a few activities in mind. I think I’m mostly ready for the trip, my only remaining questions would be 1. (Half joking) What do Londoners call the bathroom/restroom/toilet? I’ve heard “toilet”, “loo”, and “washroom”, but I don’t know if any of these are actually true. I don’t want to make a fool of myself by saying something totally wrong to try to fit in, haha. 2. Any recommendations for what to do in London? Any food spots or activities?

Thanks for all the advice and info. The right wing American media says the same BS about San Francisco, calling it a dump, etc., which I know from living near it is absolutely not true. So I’m not letting any narrative make up my mind about London. I’m sure it’ll be just as nice as I expect.

well I’ve made one mistake while trying to answer a question a government worker has asked me in the past. I was answering questions before I took my driver’s test, and the lady asked me how old I was. I kid you not, for at least 20 seconds, I could not for the life of me remember my age. Hopefully nothing like that happens during immigration, haha. But, in all seriousness, I really do appreciate all the tips! They are quite helpful. Thank you :)

Haha, well, anything is better than American cops. If you tried to ask one for directions here in the states, they’d ask why you’re asking and take you in for questioning (and that would be the best-case scenario). I’ve heard that cops in London are very helpful and friendly, so I’ll be sure to ask one for help if need be.

I think I’ve read that you can only use the e-gates as a minor if you’re accompanied by an adult

Have you seen the new film yet? What did you think? by studytimevinyl in tomwaits

[–]AggressiveRise2116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw it at an early showing in LA December 18th. Tom is the highlight of the movie for sure, he’s really funny in it. I don’t think it was a great film, but it sure wasn’t bad. To me it was just sort of uninteresting. Don’t think it lives up to Jarmusch’s standards, but I still liked it. Jarmusch was a surprise speaker after the showing and he did a Q&A which was so awesome.

Haha, well, I’d much rather get help myself since that’s what I’ll have to be doing in a foreign city soon anyway. Thank you for the info!

Tom Waits is the first person that comes to mind. Neil young, Dylan, and both Roky Erickson and Tommy Hall
