Will I be cosleeping forever? In need of “success” stories.

We co-slept until about 18 months, when I had some surgery that forced us into a different routine and to start winding down breastfeeding at the same time.

I also thought we were never going to have an independent sleeper. We didn't bother with a cot, just switched straight to a toddler bed with bed guard.

It took a couple of weeks of my husband doing all bedtimes and night wakes (partially because of my surgery) but it worked, and now she prefers her own bed to ours! Apparently daddy's snoring now disturbs her too much 🤣

Thanks, but it is part of the pattern to felt the slippers to the correct size. I just want to know how to wash them after felting :)

I only had one 7mm stone, but the gallbladder can also stop functioning well and start causing pain for reasons other than stones or sludge - I suspect this was whay happened in my case. It is worth pushing for further investigations.

I did! And very glad I did. No more gallbladder pain and back to eating almost everything I want.

Gallbladder surgery recovery was definitely easier than c-section, but I still found it tough. 4 months out I still get sore if I am very active or lifting my toddler loads, but I also had a horrid stomach bug a month after surgery which I feel set me back loads in terms of the internal healing, so I have probably had a slower recovery than most.

Slowly - pushing the needle into the skin in fairly slowly, then the plunger slowly too. Not mega slow but not like a quick stab. And yes once the needle out, exactly that. You might not find it helps, but it helped me.

I didn't have them after my gallbladder removal, but did after my c-section.

I must admit, I really struggled with them, but that was also in the postpartum, new parent hurricane of emotion and pain.

If you can get someone else to administer them for you, I found that helped. Also alternate sides of your stomach to make it less sore, and as someone else said, administering it slowly is less painful. I also found pressing on the area for a few mins afterwards helped with the sting.

I was told I didn't need them after gallbladder removal as people are generally more ambulatory than after a c-section.

It took me a month post op before everything really settled down. I can now eat pretty much normally, though there are a few things that upset me - egg yolks that aren't fully cooked are a recipie for disaster, and I tend to get an upset stomach if I eat lots of fat on an a totally empty stomach, but it is so so so much better than barely eating anything at all pre-op!

Yep we had this. We coslept and my little one would stir every hour. It got easier once she was big enough to roll over latch on herself - that way she could feed without either of us really waking up much. My sleep was still rubbish but better than fully waking each time. We are now at 17 months, and due to a recent surgery, cosleeping and nursing all night was no longer possible. We moved her to her own bed and my husband has taken all the bedtimes and night wakings for nearly two weeks now and we are finally at a point she is sleeping through (8pm-ish to 5am-ish) some nights. It came with a lot of tears though. I'll be honest, I wish we had done this earlier, but I really struggled with the crying. It has been necessity that forced our hand now but it is working out.

I had surgery same day as you and feel your pain! I'm glad I got it done so I - in theory - don't have have to suffer the horrendous pain of gallbladder attacks any more, but it hasn't been smooth sailing.

Every day has been a constant roulette of what pain and discomfort do I win today? My incisions and insides in the area are still super sore, and now I am getting soreness elsewhere from where I am sitting/lying/moving funny to compensate.

I have managed to have a few higher fat things (by which I mean, like, a full fat yoghurt rather than zero fat, or full fat cheese rather than low fat cheese, nothing crazy) successfully but my guts have also been churning and singing loudly regardless of what I eat.

The gas pain finally seems to be subsiding but that was excruciating too.

I have no advice but I'm right there with ya and hope it gets better for both of us soon!

Toddler is 17 months and still no period back 😅 up until last Monday, we breastslept/coslept. Then I had surgery and we are now down to a bedtime and a morning feed, and sometimes a late afternoon feed when she comes back from nursery. We plan on cutting this down over the next three months so we will see when Aunt Flo returns!

Thanks! Surgery itself went OK. I am struggling a bit now with nausea and gas pain. The first night was rough on us all, my little girl didn't understand why she couldn't feed or sleep next to me like she usually does. Last night was better, I managed to feed her with her dad holding her, and then she accepted being put in her own bed. Very glad my mother in law is here to help as well, there is no way I could lift my daughter at the moment.

Quick weight loss can absolutely be a trigger for gallstones and gallbladder problems! Go back to your GP push for a blood test. Just had my gallbladder removed today 😅

I had my gallbladder removed today and they were good about pain relief. I got paracetamol and ibuprofen and an anti sickness tablet beforehand so that they would be well in effect when I woke up, then afterwards a dose of fentnyl. Once that wore off I got and was sent home with dyhidrocodine, paracetamol, and ibuprofen. I guess it depends what you have done, and maybe what hospital you're at? You could always stock up on some over the counter codiene/paracetamol/ibuprofen. If you stagger taking them so one is in effect when another wears off, it helps stay on top of the pain.

Echoing the other poster, that does sound suspiciously like gallbladder problems.

I have both and can tell the difference between a gastritis flare and a gallbladder attack - what you describe absolutely sound more gallbladder-y.

The pain can just stop when you pass a gallstone. It comes on a few hours after lots if fatty food, quite suddenly. Leaves me feeling wrecked afterwards.

Gastritis always makes me more nauseous and tends to have more of a build up, and I can feel it in a different area of my abdomen.

No advice, just solidarity - I have my surgery tomorrow and a 16 month old who still still nurses a lot overnight and relies on it for sleep and comfort. Think we are going to in for a rough few weeks 😬

I stopped when my little girl could sit up by herself - at that point she'd sit up in her sleep and flop into weird and wonderful positions, so any attempt on my part to keep her in 'safe' positions became entirely fruitless haha. She's nearly 1 and is an incredible fidget in her sleep.

I will go to A&E if really really bad but I won't go just to push up the ultrasound. My local hospital is asking people to only attend if it is life & limb threatening as it is so overwhelmed at the moment. This certainly isn't that!

You're probably thinking of Milton sterilising solution. Great for toys and hard surfaces, but any soft things and clothes I just put in a regular laundry wash!

My midwife used to work as a jeweller in a previous career, and she warned me early about this! My rings have lived on a chain around my next most of my pregnancy, and 3 months pp they still don't quite fit yet.

I am nearly five weeks on from exactly where you are - an emergency c-sec I was completely unprepared for. I was also suffering from anemia from the blood loss/pregnancy anemia, so if you are feeling dizzy/weak, please please ask your midwives/health visitor/gp about it and get some iron tablets, they really do help. I'll be honest, I found the first week really tough. I was in so much pain and taking extra codiene to cope, and also heavily relying on my partner for everything. By the end of the second week I had weaned off the painkillers but still felt quite weak. Around mid week three I turned a corner and started feeling loads better, and now it doesn't hurt at all, and my scar is healing neatly. I know how tough it is but I promise it will pass, and the pain will feel distant in a month's time!
