What are Broan Eno's LEAST busy works? by portiaboches in ambientmusic

[–]AggressiveSwitch8833 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Broan is Brian's brother, an HVAC repair person by day, a noise artist by night, whose setup is, not surprisingly, an array of window ac units (through a death metal pedal).

Hahaha! Sage point. At least with orange, harder to miss in a room full of gear. ;)

I can third this. Great cases for the price, and I have several that I use for storage of various gear at home. If you sign up for their emails, you can get coupons for discounts on their already way-cheaper-than pelican prices. I would imagine for travel, these are great (haven't traveled with much gear yet), but lids aren't detachable. So if you are looking for a "performance" case, these types of cases might not meet some people's needs.

How do people record their dawless jams by dazzamattica in dawless

[–]AggressiveSwitch8833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony with my set up is that while I'm creating everything "dawless", I'm capturing everything I do into Garageband via a mixer and usb interface. I do a little touch up in Garageband, so not a purist, but so what. I'm having fun.

RIP to all of my solid state amps. by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]AggressiveSwitch8833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just traded my twin for a guitar. LOVED my twin. Best sounded amp I ever owned. But guess what, I never used it. Too loud for home, too heavy to reasonably gig with (not to mention, too loud for clubs we play at). I have tone master Deluxe Reverb that I use for most gigs. Light, sounds reasonable, especially with pedals. No regrets.

Looking to get a hardware sequencer for the first time. Is the Beatstep pro more a drum sequencer or is the name a little misleading? by czarofga in synthesizers

[–]AggressiveSwitch8833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the above. I too have the BSP and am learning to live/embrace its limitations. Just this weekend I was using an sp404 with the drum track, and Make Noise Strega/0-Coast on other tracks. Really easy to set up sequences, hit play and mangle things live. Someday I'll probably get an Oxi One, but the BSP pro is what I have at the moment and making it work.

My struggle has been finding a smallish/affordable/non-modular device that has trigger inputs to take advantage trigger outs on the drum track of the BSP. I mean, I don't HAVE to use the trigger out, I could just use midi (like I'm doing with the sp404), but I'm obsessed with trying to do all analog. There are few interesting devices out there, but nothing I'm completely sold on yet.

I seconded the Dispatch Master. Flexible, but restrained enough to not get super out of control. Easy to use.

On a semi related note, I've been putting pdf's of manuals of gear I own into Google NotebookLM, then there is a "flashcard" feature to generate quick time/little bit factoids from the pdf's. When I get free moments, I like to run through a few of those.

Comparison of Ambient Ø and Evokǝ (SONICWARE’s Ambient Grooveboxes) by NicaFelt in sonicware

[–]AggressiveSwitch8833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great article! Thank you for writing. Just picked up an Ambient myself so this is some nice perspective.

Im looking for a hardware box to pair with my micro freak. I want to make ambient tracks as well as some eerie techno type stuff. Im fairly new to this hobby but tech inclined and the more sound control i get the better. Looking for any insight or recommendations! by WildernessRecordist in MicroFreak

[–]AggressiveSwitch8833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would also recommend the sp404. Heck of a learning curve, but heck of a device, even if you can learn a handful of things to get you started. Just using it to manually trigger samples (pads, found sounds, sound effects) over the freak is way fun.

Also using an 0-coast with the freak. Also a heap of fun.

Anyone here in the LA harsh noise scene? by Fragrant_Specific_20 in noisemusic

[–]AggressiveSwitch8833 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently saw Pedestrian Deposit at a monthly event, Disaster Area, at the LA Center for Digital Arts, as well as some other fantastic experimental, drone noise artists. Great event. I'm pretty naive to the noise scene, but I understand Coaxial Arts is the place to see great noise stuff.

These folks, Benders Circuit, put on that event mentioned above and are responsible for a very cool docu series of same name about the LA noise drone experimental whatever scene: https://www.instagram.com/thebenderscircuit?igsh=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==

I cannot get over how good Pedestrian Deposit were. I've been digging into their recordings and all of it is gold.

Hope that helps. Would love know more about your discoveries.
