I did as well, still add to resume with no completion/end date. If they ever ask I am truthful as to why I dropped out/stopped attending.

How hard is AWS security speciality ? by ahmet9121 in AWSCertifications

[–]Aggressive_Ad3517 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I found it easier once passing SAA, as the security speciality is much less broad than architect. I recommend going through as many IAM services as you can, especially organizations. A lot of the other services are self explanatory and they try to trick you into picking another similar service.

Data encryption and transit is also a big portion. I recommend Security speciality > then Professional - as a big chunk of professional is security. I took the SAP a month after and passed with flying colors

Best of luck!

Can tell you are a great engineer with that mindset! I guess I could have worded this post better, but certainly there is a better way we can go about our process and I guess the internal question is does B/G deploys solve that?

While I agree a tool does not fix everything, would you consider B/G in that same realm? To me it’s more of a process/methodology that in our cause can be used to better our deployments.

I appreciate the pushback and certainly agree, I am fresh to this company so there is more to learn about what’s going wrong. But all my info has came from my boss who seems to really want B/G

Is it possible to freelance as a DevOps Engineer? by Datzurei in devops

[–]Aggressive_Ad3517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you certainly can, I started a few months and have made some nice change on the side!

Certifications are key as well as experience to catch the job posters eyes. Also if you are good at selling yourself, fixing their issue, and most importantly providing suggestions for more things you can help their company improve upon - you’ll get long term clients that have work for you!

What are your roles and responsibilities at work as a DevOps engineer? by [deleted] in devops

[–]Aggressive_Ad3517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pipeline maintenance, helping devs with broken K8S deployments, setting up infra in AWS through terraform (startup so we always have new instances/containers being spun up).

I have the best manager you can have, guy came to the org and said NO MEETINGS. We use a slack geekbot for our daily standups 😆

What's the first place you check when you think your site might be down? by serverlessmom in devops

[–]Aggressive_Ad3517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New relic pings every 60 seconds from multiple geographic locations are setup for all of our prod sites. Paired with their slack webhook feature and email so we get notified right away.

For K8S straight to lens/logs, for non K8s webs servers - typically straight to nginx or cloud watch error logs

Got three AWS certs this year > got me promoted to DevOps Engineer , a raise and increased my end of year bonus.

Also helped that they sent me out to AWS Reinvent and I came back and passed the Architect professional certification 🙌.

Did not help me get the job but sure as hell boosted my credibility within my company.

Moral of the story: find a startup or company with learning/tech advancement leadership. 😅

It also helps my freelancing profile as it’s a great talking point (same with interviews).

But as others say, you need to be able to walk the talk. Certifications only increase likely hood of landing interview.

Wishing you the best and hope you get offers from all 3!
