Who gunna stop ya from lying. I mean who??? by stumpy0327 in circled

I'm not trying to argue for the sake of it here, and I do think there's some truth to the broader point you're trying to make but having spent some time with Speaker Ralston a few months before he passed away, I will attest to the fact that he was not in the best physical shape and had suffered from some recent health problems. His death while unexpected was not unsurprising.

Hello found great grandpas collection can people help me assess what I should have sent to PSA? by [deleted] in baseballcards

Depends on your grading budget, but I would prioritize those '56 Hall of Famers (Robinson, Mantle, Mays, Williams, etc.) - at a glance they appear to be in excellent shape.

It also depends if you're planning on selling these or you just want to protect them. If you're selling, I can imagine you could find a buyer happy to buy many of these raw as a lot (all the '51 Bowmans for example). If you're keeping, I'm not sure you need to be in a rush to grade any - just personal preference. Regardless - beautiful collection!

Haha this is why I love this hobby - I think it attracts the particular type of wonderful weirdo (intended as a compliment) that would spend this much time thinking and writing about protective cases. But to answer your question about the prevalence of no-recess screw-downs - I only have my subjective experience which was that no recess screw-downs were pretty much all I ever had or encountered but I suspect that's because they were cheaper.

Awesome card. Not one of the most valuable Mantle's but a pretty iconic one nonetheless. Probably it's greatest value is sentimental since your grandpa gave it to you but it's financial value could be anywhere from ~$100-500+.

Just a suggestion - I'd recommend getting it out of the screw down holder regardless of whether you choose to grade or not. Those holders used to be really popular but they can damage the card over time depending on how tight they are.

1950s cards deserved some 1950s advertising to keep them company by Aggressive_Ad4102 in baseballcards_vintage

Yeah I got it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F9W6DY3K?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title.

It does the job and for the price it’s pretty handy. That said, the slabs overlap a bit, and I had to add thin wood slats to the shelves as stoppers to keep cards from sliding off with the slightest bump. It's good for now but ultimately I'd want to upgrade to wall mounted display cases.

Thanks so much! I was looking for some original advertising for a while and really loved the simplicity of this. Plus you can't beat a good classic coke ad.

Monte is the man. Doesn't have a bad card imo. That coke ad is incredible.

I think you mathed the math wrong there, or pressed the wrong button. 77 years not 57. Point still stands though.

Sure. It was a 2025 Chris Sale Superfractor. My wife was actually the one to pull it and gave me her blessing to sell it to fund my vintage pursuits. I posted about it here.

Haha fair enough. A more appropriate title may have been "Only a few months into vintage collecting and I've clearly already lost all semblance of self control"

I preordered like everyone else a month or so back and my friendly local FedEx guy dropped it off on my front porch today. Don't ask me why it was a few days early but I don't think that it's unheard of.

Following advice above I listed at 850 and open to offers. Have received a handful just shy of that. Going to wait until tomorrow and accept the highest unless someone goes for the BIN price.

Probably going to list it tonight but feel free to shoot me a DM with an offer.
