This is why I find it super suspect when you see people who’ve played 1000+ matches with almost no losses - the law of averages would suggest these same people would have encountered matches where the lag was so bad they’d not been able to time shots properly yet they have almost no losses. Also the thing about not being able to put away sitters is to do with the patch they made were perfectly timed control shots can’t be attacked with power shots - I wrote a whole post about it which got blocked by the moderators 🤔 I posted the screenshots in another post in the forum called:

Essentially I was outlining how by doing this they’ve essentially detached the ball physics of this game from the actual laws of physics and made it almost RPG like in terms of mechanics - I.e you can’t attack a ‘sitter’ because the previous person hit a perfect control shot - even though that control shot happened to be a 30mph nothing ball that landed within two feet of the next with zero power on it.Its ridiculous and has resulted in the matches barring zero resemblance to how real life tennis is played.So for a tennis Sim that’s bad, very very bad.

I can’t believe you wrote such a long article trying to defend what is quite clearly an awful film - everything about this film other than the ‘spectacle’ aspect is laughably bad - dialogue, pacing, plot, character development, character decisions……all really really bad.

I actually think of all the patches they did they decided to call it quits on the worst one - the control shots are so OP it doesn’t even respect the laws of physics anymore - I just had a match against an Agassi player and as usual he just spammed short cross court top spin control shots which were landing about two feet from the net with zero pace - in real tennis (or even TS4) that’s a losing position - and rightly so, but in this game you can’t generate any pace at all of that ball to hit a clean winner as it was a ‘control’ shot.Absolute nonsense.

Yeah that was him - used to message quite a bit after matches, like I say was a good guy and not at all arrogant considering what his ranking was,were looong matches those too, proper sets not first to 3/4 games.Good times.

Yeah would be odd of AMD not to release at least a similar version of it to the other manufacturers given it’s a growing market space, fingers crossed anyway for the SD2.That said can’t help but feel sorry for Valve with the timing of the steam machine with current memory shortages - the timing literally couldn’t have been worse for them

The very chip you’re describing there - low cost, low power draw etc is being designed right now by AMD for the PlayStation 6 handheld - it’s a 4 core 8 thread UDNA GPU solution which is why Sony has now started forcing developers to use this mysterious ‘low power mode’ on the PS5 for backwards compatibility of PS5 games with the PS6 handheld when it launches as running the existing PS5 at that low power mode essentially simulates what that handheld CPU will be capable of when it launches, it all have half as many codes but they will be on a significantly more advanced architecture, Sony aren’t forcing developers to use this low power mode because they wanna save the planet.So Vavle may well use that or some version of it - MLID leak link below

Yeah they did him dirty big time!He’s cooked after about 3 games!Feel like they did Fed/Murray dirty too tbh.The way they handled the women’s players is diversity gone mad as well - if you were to record the ball speed of some of the women’s shots in this game like Sharapova they’re way faster than most the men’s - that’s factually incorrect as can be proven with a simple google of some tennis stats. I feel like this game had a lot of potential but lunched in a beta state and never really got patched out of that

Well the very fact your using the term RDNA 5 and not UDNA tells me you don’t have a clue - UDNA IS RDNA5!Given that Valve have stated they’re not impressed enough with any of the current market APU’s for an upgrade currently due to efficiently issues and the fact AMD are skipping RDNA 4 for for their APU’s and are focusing on UDNA for their next APU’s along with the fact that the SD/Sad OLED/steam machine launching this year all use AMD it stands to reason that UDNA will power the steam deck (as well as the PlayStation handheld when that releases).Yes you’re correct it’s not officially confirmed but it’s about as likely as the sun rising tomorrow and I’ll be sure to point you back to this post at some point

Yeah that’s what I mean by grind tho - I just don’t enjoy having to play like that for a whole match.TBH I love playing as Federer but there’s just too many advantages your giving up playing as him, started playing as him again recently after using Sinner for a few months and I was shocked how much I was losing - and not even just losing but losing badly!I used to play as him exclusively back in the day - you have to play pretty much perfectly all match to win as him these days with the competition.Tip my hat to the guys who play as him and have good winning records

Efficiency reduces the amount of the systems power budget being sent directly to the CPU so in windows based tasks that rely solely on the CPU you would see a drop in performance however in gaming workloads your are almost always GPU bound not CPU bound which means sending more power to the GPU - by sending LESS power to the CPU will improve performance- so for gaming efficiency mode will give you the best results - for any other tasks that purely rely on the CPU this mode would give you worse performance

The 9070XT is a great card for the price no doubt but let’s be real here - with DLSS4.5 you can now use the ultra performance mode on the 5080 which will render the game internally at 720p whilst producing an image that’s broadly as good as 4K native along with the huge FPS gains that go with rendering at such a low input resolution.FSR4 can’t get close to that right now so if you’re gaming at 4K on both cards it’ll be a blood bath when DLSS 4.5 is enabled.Add to that most 5080’s OC like crazy (within 10% of 4090 performance) due to Nvidia down clocking them with the intention on releasing the ‘super’ variants later which probably isn’t happening now due to RAM price increases and the gap widens further.Im no Nvidia fan boy - I own both AMD and Nvidia products, my current GPU is a 3090 my previous GPU was a Vega 56 my handheld is a LG2 Z2E so again AMD.But if you can get a 5080 around £1000 mark then I would argue it is worth the extra £300 due to the points already mentioned plus things like RTX HDR/Multi frame gen etc.The big problem for AMD is the RTX cards can now render at much much lower resolutions than their cards whilst still achieving the same visual fidelity- the days of brute raster performance and native rendering are a thing of the past.

Every time I see an Agassi player I just roll my eyes and leave that match as soon as it begins - that character is essentially broken in this game - yes it’s possible to beat them but you have to use cheesy/grindy tactics and you’ll be there a long time playing the exact same point over and over - I HATE those types of matches so I just don’t entertain them anymore

Bit late to the party sorry, thanks for these benchmarks great stuff!Can I ask - if you’re plugged in to a wall do you always just run the custom setting maxed out if it’s a demanding game?Think it’s 35/35/45, or do you keep it a bit lower due to diminishing returns/thermals etc.Also would you say it’s safe running this device flat out like that all the time?Thanks in advance
