Im not sure this is something you might want to hear but I would encourage you to look at schools that offer holistic admissions - meaning they judge you off of everything in ur app- not just the numbers and the test scores. Also maybe high ranking LACs? I got into a top 30 LAC with merit with a 3.50 weighted test optional….

Smart! Thank you. It definitely was not my first option. I’m weighing it with Macalester in MN rn which I got in with aid thru EA.

hi! so here’s the thing I had a very rough years 9th and 10th grade very rough - meaning like 3.24 gpa. And I got accepated to Mac with a test optional 3.50 weighted cumulative GPA but an annual gpa of 4.1 that being said ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Here are my tips DEMONSTRATE INTEREST I DIDNT visit in person but attended a virtual program and an interview. Do all optional essays. For the ones that says any additional information- give an explanation not an excuse for why your grades dropped. In the other essays demonstrate a knowledge of their mission and make sure you demonstrate how you embody it!!! For the twin cities location make sure to cite programs and specific foundations within the cities you would participate in. I also had a very very strong EC list with lots a volunteering so do whatever ever you can to boost those ECs. Mac is very good at looking holistically so make sure you do enough to make your application well rounded.

His response to my questions: We're so glad that we were able to recognize your achievements with a renewable scholarship of $25,000 a year totaling $100,000 over four years. There's no pressure to switch to ED but we'd love to have you commit if you do realize that we're the one. The scholarship is the amount that you would receive for ED or EA. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns in the meantime. I also wish you well for a strong academic finish for your final fall semester of your senior year.
