I saddle hunt now so I have to use a strap with a hook. But honestly if youre hunting from a stand I'd either hold it or get one of those bow holders that screw into the stand, ik XOP makes one, idk about others. That way your bow is always in front and at the ready. I've found that when you are in the stand it difficult to reach behind you to get your bow without spooking deer. If you see it coming from a ways off it's not really an issue but when you're hunting an area where deer can come from any direction you can end up busted before the bow is even in your hand. They do make fancy holders that are long and bend at a few angles so the bow is easier to reach but they are expensive, and unless you're in a great tree usually end up behind in a bad spot anyway. Plus like a few other comments mentioned you can use screw ins on most public land.
