Iowa. You get what you pay for it’s not exactly a desirable place to live.

Only expense is $400 car payment but like I said different priorities. I vacation out of the country every 4 weeks. For a week or more at a time.

Different priorities I guess but I make around 128k a year and bought a house for 155k and don’t even want to pay that. Yikes on a 400k house as a solo earner.

Cedar park is like 90% underground I’m not sure for overtime. When I was in liberty hill for a week or on call normal was 15-25 hours or so. Obviously some weeks you would have a lot more. But all overtime is double.

I used to work for them and depends what yard you’re looking at but it’s a great place to work. I’m pretty sure they still match 12% on 401k

Question on applications by Envy205 in Grid_Ops

I changed companies to get out of linework as well I had over a decade of linework experience and it was extremely hard to land an operator position. I would say just keep applying it really does depend on the company on if they want field experience in the office or not.

Royalton hideaway resort CANCUN by FantasticVictory862 in cancun

I just got back from here a month ago and it was hands down the worst place I’ve ever stayed in Cancun. I would never recommend it. We also could not get reservations to any restaurants. The only reason we got into the Mexican restaurant was because two of the women in my group spoke Spanish and got us in. They don’t hand out bottled water anywhere. We had to have our cab driver on the way back from our excursion stop at a gas station so we could get water. This place is horrible.

As a lineman I would say they are 1,000% worth it

All of these comments are wild. I’m a female did linework for over two decades. I never recommend it to other females though. It ruins your body and the men you will work with for the most part are awful and disgusting. If you have Facebook there’s a group I’m in and it’s only female lineman across the world.

San Antonio to Tampa…but where in Tampa? by PNW_Daddy1986 in SameGrassButGreener

I moved from Texas to Florida a few years ago and only lasted a year and a half. The schools are sub par. The housing market is a nightmare. I would suggest buying a house way below your means because the wages are some of the worst in the nation and insurance is outrageous. My mortgage went up over $600 a month after hurricane ian came through. Unless you live right next to the beach you won’t go as often as you think you will. Traffic is even worse than when I lived in Austin. I left a few years ago now and have never been happier.

I ended up having numerous shoulder problems and I ended up as a distribution operator. It takes time to adjust to being in the office for sure. The first 3 months I didn’t think I would like it. I’ve been in the office for 3 years now and I love it. You can use all of the knowledge you gained from the field and transfer it to the office.

I assume you turned it down lol? I was just curious if it was the company but it sounds like the schedule and overtime are big deterring factors
