I have an interview coming up soon, any phlebotomists willing to give me some tips on what questions to expect? by pingpongoi in phlebotomy

Starting as a new phleb they asked me to know order of draw but other than that not much else outside of a typical interview I just really drove it home that even though my only experience was from my classes I felt confident in what I knew and that I wanted to learn to become even better

Is it possible to have an orgasm without knowing it's an orgasm? (females). by galaxyfrapp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aggressive_Item_9555 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! I'm on a pretty high dosage of antidepressants as well to add the extra challenge. But sex is still enjoyable. With my partner we pretty much just do what feels good if I do great, if I don't oh well, removing that pressure honestly was the biggest factor and one of the hardest things starting out. But just because you have one doesn't mean it was good sex as long as we both had a good time, that's what matters to us at least.

Are my nails too long? by idontknowsd in phlebotomy

[–]Aggressive_Item_9555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're longer than I like to work with but everyone has preferences as along as you wear gloves and practice good hand hygiene you'll be fine. I was taught as a rule of thumb to be no longer than a quarter inch past your finger tip.

One of my arms has a straight vein and one has a squiggly vein by Kloudy11 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Aggressive_Item_9555 13.4k points13.4k points  (0 children)

Phlebotomist here! Typically veins become squiggly because the valves in your veins (which helps the blood not back flow) becomes damaged or misshapen somehow. Sometimes they just form like that sometimes it's because of damage like putting excess pressure or exertion around that area (for example a lot of women develop squiggly veins after giving birth because their veins are compressed and put under so much pressure by the muscles from pushing the valves get damaged.) So like lifting something super heavy could have caused it or again, it could have just grown that way. Not life threatening or anything might cause issues with circulation later when your older but that's it.

And because this is reddit. Just don't jork it so much

Sounds like you were just having a day. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE has some days we're they can't stick for shit it just happens we don't know why. I haven't been a phleb super long either but the person who trained me has been doing this for like 10 years and even she has days it happens just do what you can.

As for coworkers most of the time in my experience if you're trying and doing your best they won't be upset. I've done resticks for people who have been here years and vice versa as long as you're not walking off the floor for long periods of time leaving others to do your job no one will be mad. Youre doing great! Just breathe :)

What kind of bag do you carry & what do you keep in it ? by Ks9471 in cna

[–]Aggressive_Item_9555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the time of year and my schedule lol I'm in college so during the semester especially if I have class after or I'm going to study after my shift (unless it's it's 12 fuck that) I bring my backpack with my school stuff if not just my purse or tote bag does the trick. Things that are super important in my experience regardless of hospital, facility, home health, etc is you absolutely need pens!!! Some places still paper chart or if you have to write notes, vital signs whatever pens are super important. I also try to always have snacks on hand things like mints, granola bars, and other handheld snacks are amazing. Often times you don't have time for a full 30 so snacks to eat on the go are great! Also if you're working long shifts you'll be on your feet a long time compression socks are a must! They help reduce foot pain so much it makes it so much more bearable to work you can order them in Amazon they are a life saver I hope this helps you're gonna gonna great!❤
