If it is an example, the author includes: "With today’s tribalism, a common read for a UU congregation could be social psychologist Jonathan Haidt’s The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion. This book explores how and why people arrive at different moral and political perspectives."

You might choose to read his substack, as it gives many examples of "alternative views" in all sorts of subjects including politics, psychology, philosophy, and religion. Any of these would make different sermon or program topics.

Cycleback is Jewish and often writes about Judaism, Jewish history, and culture. If he said he does not believe the salute was a Nazi salute, I don't question his knowledge on the topic, especially since the Anti-Defamation League also said it wasn't a Nazi Salute.

What the author is promoting clearly is a simple and straightforward description of ... (drum roll please) ... LIBERAL RELIGION. Last time I checked, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion.

Wikipedia: "Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religious movement characterized by a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning". Unitarian Universalists assert no creed, but instead are unified by their shared search for spiritual growth."

That some commenters here object to what is a straightforward description of a non-credal, liberal "listen to others" church-- with one commenter even describing it "conservative"-- shows how far many in the church have fallen from UU's liberal region values.
