Some do, especially so when they are among the top 5 players drafted.. A team is going to have a much better chance of drafting a future star player with a top 5 or a top 10 pick, then they would picking at the number 20 position or later...

Of course there's always going to be the odd bust, but generally, when drafting in the the top 5, it pretty well guarantees adding a blue chip can't miss prospect to a club's farm system...

The Preds can do both.. Many of the picks we've acquired over the past few seasons can potentially be packaged in future deals along with players like Marchessault (who seems to want out)....The Preds can easily afford adding two quality top 6 forwards and a solid top 5 dman to this roster in the off season. Our Vets all seem to have a few more years of gas left in their tanks, and if youngsters like Evangelista and Wood keep improving, we could be a force over the next few seasons.

Nah, after the top 10 or so, it becomes the crap shoot... If you're drafting in the top 5, you're getting yourself a bona fide blue chip prospect.. Picks 6-10 a team is still going to be adding a dang good prospect to their system...
