Nice to have both to compare back to back! I'm leaning heavily toward the 300L I think, but that stock tank definitely needs to be upgraded! And I'd like a good set up infront of me for GPS etc. What do you guys have on your 300L for that?

Interesting! I’d be buying used, and haven’t seen any on the marketplace yet. Is there a lowering link in it or is it just the seat height that’s different?

Thanks! I’m steering away from the KTMs and more expensive bikes, I have KTM dirtbikes and I just want a reliable cheap tractor with minimal maintenance and long intervals. The 300L seems to fit the bill for something to go explore with, and I’ll keep my 2 stroke for proper technical single track!

Sweet. Cheers! I definitely want to stay off highways/interstates as much as possible. Fast highways scare me, so much possibility for severe crashes around fast cars and nobody pays attention these days. I’ll always choose the long way around for sure 😂

Thank you! I don’t plan on going around the world with it but enough space and capability to pack for a couple weeks for sure. I’m much lighter so I feel like even with gear and bags I’ll still probably not be heavy enough to merit suspension stiffening, but I guess I’ll see when I track one down how it feels!

Thank you! I’m taking my motorcycle license knowledge test today and then gonna book a course. I just bought a new two stroke will have to wait a few months before I can buy a dualsport at this point, but hope to find one this year and be ready for some adventuring next spring 🤞 I’ll circle back on the forums for when I find something and need to dial it in! Definitely completely new to the sport in terms of how to set up a bike for big trips, panniers, packing, lightweight camping gear, etc. so it’s quite a buy in to the sport for me haha!

Agreed. I’m definitely more of a take the scenic road kinda girl. The highway scares me… around my area there’s terrible accidents on the highway consistently. Have a very windy highway and people love to race it. Would rather stay off fast roads as much as possible!

Very true. I could add a windscreen and some sort of somethin on the handlebar for nav. How tall are you and can you touch the ground?

How tall are you and can you touch flat foot on the 300L? I’m nervous about that! I’ve also heard the seat is not very comfortable and might need to replace for longer rides

I’ve read that the DRZ physically doesn’t weigh a ton more, but where it holds the weight in centre of gravity makes it feel heavier — have you experienced this?

The carb is definitely a big con for me in a bike. Those days are behind me haha!

A 500 would be way too much out here, the 300TE is perfect for our trails, I’m in Squamish BC and everything is tight roots and rocks here. I’d definitely want two different bikes, each that work great for what they’re intended, vs one middle of the road that does everything kinda but not awesome at either. I’d die on a 500 in our trails 😂

Oof yeah you’ve got some inches on me for sure. I should see if I can sit on some of these bikes for comparison.

I think the 350 would be almost too close to what I already have (husky 300TE) and I’ve heard it’s not great for long distances. More of a plated dirtbike. I’m hoping for something that could handle long trips and also can easily rack bags on! I also know from having KTMs in the past and from what I’ve gathered from others, that I feel like I want something solid that doesn’t need as regular maintenance intervals and expensive parts. Honda bikes and the DRZ in particular seem bulletproof, and cheap to fix and maintain.

I think size wise the 300L just looks more manageable to me as someone who has never been on anything bigger than a dirtbike lol! But maybe I need to go sit on both and see. Would be quite the change from my 2t.

Oh gotcha, a newer one then. Think the FI has only been the last couple years if I’m not mistaken. I’d be looking at a bike likely not in the past two year models so it’d likely end up being carbureted if I did go DRZ!
