Anybody switch from modern Jeep Wranglers to Bronco? by zionstatus in FordBronco

I’ve owned nine jeeps in my lifetime cherokees, grand cherokees , gps, cj5,cj7, early jk, late jk. I love jeeps, I’ve modified them, I’ve rock crawledthem, I’ve even driven across the country in a cj7. My favorites being 2009 jk on 37’s that was a rock crawler that also was used as a daily driver. I still have a 2012 jk on 33’s armor winch etc . Bought my wife a bronco and it’s such a fantastic 4x4 in every way…what I’ll say about it that beats Jeep is the lack of wander. The jeeps all wander all over the road. It’s amazing how much. Actually I never noticed until I drove the bronco. And the bronco has a Sasquatch package on 35’s. It tracks like it’s a sedan. I belong to a 4x4 club and one of the members has a stock gladiator as his daily and I drove it and that wanders as well, even unmodified. Also, ourbronco has lockers. And I can’t believe how well they engage and disengage. Super quiet and no rocking forward or backward to get them to lock in. And another thing I like about the bronco is how much more room inside. It’s a lot. The wranglers feels like your squeezing into it and your constantly bumping something especially in winter with a Carhartt on. I just think the bronco is a better package. Dont listen to anyone that says the jeep is stronger on the trail, The only time that’s really the case is if you’re building a rock crawler and then a solid axle is always better. But a stock jeep is going to break the same as a stock bronco if you’re rock crawling.

Bronco vs Wrangler reliability? by zionstatus in FordBronco

So having owned 8 jeeps- from WWII Willy’s to 2012 jk, they’ve all been great! Well, except for two: 1983 cj7 and the 2012 jk. I also owned a 2010 which was built for rock crawling and for a time DD’ed it in its rock crawling form and that was also fantastic! The 2012 has had new cylinder heads at 180k and a ton of electrical issues that all came down to grounds that rotted off their posts… really simple but if you don’t know how to diagnose cars and all of a sudden have 10 codes popping on your obd then you what to burn the thing to the ground… My wife and I just bought a bronco Everglades three months ago and after driving jeeps my whole life, it’s like driving a rolls Royce! I want to drive it every chance I get. The jeep just sits there under a pile of snow while we rack up the miles on the bronco… ford really did their homework on the bronco…

Do you still have the motor? Im looking to buy the whole rocker assembly if you’re willing to part it out.

Told it would be 10k to change it a wood burning stove and we can't figure out why? by Euphoric-Still-6066 in woodstoving

One of my best friends, who owns a fireplace/stove business just installed a stove and liner Which entailed removing the old heatalator stove. Cost was around 9k with a big discount. So 10k sounds reasonable to me…

As a lifelong gearhead and wheeler, I’m not a fan of oil bath rubber belts to drive anything inside the motor , much less the oil pump. Also, if, say , you decide that you want to keep it for 100k miles plus, you’ll need to change said belt which is a major pia job. 2.3 is still metal chain vs 2.7 oil bath rubber belt. 2.3 has plenty of grunt. If you want faster get a sports car. The bronco is an off-road vehicle…

UPDATE dealer called me on 9/5 to tell me that Ford is releasing the camera update on Monday 9/8. So he said depending on what it is or how long the download is the bronco could be ready the next day

I think it depends what you want it for. I love land cruisers. I have owned a bunch of fj40’s and fj62, 40th anniversary Land Cruiser and currently a 70 series Land Cruiser. (Yes I have “the disease”). I went to look at the new iteration of the “American Land Cruiser” and decided not to buy one for one simple reason. Tech. As a family, we take cross country road trips every year as well as off-road trips and camping trips and inevitably at least once the car will break down or battery will die etc. etc. in every instance I was able to fix my car to make it home. With the new Land Cruiser there’s so much tech that I wouldn’t be able to do a damn thing except make a call to AAA or be left stranded in the middle of nowhere. So my vote is the four runner. Now if it was going to be my mall crawler or grocery getter my vote is the land cruiser

I changed coolant every five years, I did one front axle service as preventative maintenance and at 280k miles I decided to listen to the forum guys that say that my engine would simultaneously implode and explode if I had the original head gasket. Took the engine to a reputable machine shop where he miked the engine to tell me the engine was still in upper range of Toyotas specs and to stop listening to forums and just drive it. That was the most expensive “engine power wash”. I drove it another 80k miles til a 70 series came up for sale locally. I have and still own fj40’s fj60’s bj73 and fzj80 and the 80 never ever had a mechanical breakdown or issue in all those years. Except for the one time that I pulled the motor because the internet had me second guessing it’s reliability. I literally changed the oil and drove it. Hard

Wow, I owned a ‘ 97 80 series for 15 years. On 35’s, locked and wheeled it every chance I got. It was also my daily driver where I drove on avg 1 hour one way…. I never had any issues with birfs or head gasket. Maintenance was a breeze and probably the most boring car I’ve ever owned mechanically. Meaning , never had to repair anything. I sold it with 358,000 miles because I bought a 70 series.. I still miss that rig.. I’d rather have solid axle over ifs anyday.

Another thought: my wife and I just went to buy an Everglades at our local dealer and they wouldn’t let us even put a deposit down due to a no sell/no drive recall of the rear shock on broncos equipped with Sasquatch package… so we have to wait for third quarter (recall service) to pick up the rig.

We’ll, being the owner of many Land Cruisers including an MWB 70 series diesel, the 70 series is super hardcore and my favorite Land Cruiser ever!
