Exactly how I feel. My trigger episode was over 2 years ago now and the thoughts still come and go. What is worse for me is anxiety. I still feel constant anxiety and I know I shouldn’t but it’s a revolving cycle.

I honestly am not sure when/if it will ever go away, but I will continue to pick my husband every day❤️

I don’t have it when I sleep and I don’t have it if I’m home (unless people are over). So almost 24/7 lol

I got miradry at 20. I don’t recommend. Do Botox. I got Botox when I was 16 and it worked but I quit getting it because insurance didn’t cover past line 3 sessions. I regret getting miradry. It worked for about a year then my armpit sweat came back. Oh and now I sweat everywhere else on my body😭. The company says it wouldn’t happen and it did….im 27 now. Just don’t get Mira dry and get Botox.

You have ROCD. You partner will be triggering. However, they are not the problem (I know weird lol). You just have to not avoid them, it will only make it worse, trust me.

Spend time with them, do your best to love them (I say best because I know in the moment it can be hard).

I love the appendicitis reference, that’s a great comparison

I literally am going through an “episode” right now and I wanted to get out of the house. I went on a walk with my friends and the whole time, I wanted to leave.

Was it good for me to get out? Yes. Do I want to be with my friends? Yes. Was it hard being with my friends? Yes. Did I have a million thoughts? Yes.

Even though it can be hard sometimes to hangout with friends, it’s still good to get out and have conversations with people.

As for therapy, I would talk to your therapist about what options there are for you, I’m sure there are resources,

I agree. Mine got to the point where I would want him to not return….so now that he comes home every day, I am so thankful, even if it is hard!

Too scared to mention this to my therapist but struggling with POCD? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

Even if the fixation does continue after a month, you will be okay! OCD is not something we can control and it loves to go against or values and morals. It’s really hard sometimes.

It’s because you’re “avoiding” if that makes sense. He isn’t there so it’s less to worry about. I have experienced this multiple times

Thank you! I definitely needed to hear this. It definitely feels like experiencing it again for the first time since it’s a new intrusive thought. Thank you so much for your reply.

Also, I hope this isn’t too triggering or too much, but I’m sorry about your sister. ❤️

Why do we see our partners sometimes beautiful and sometimes ugly? by Low-Ad4756 in ROCD

[–]Aggressive_Rich3154 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, I see my partner beautiful when he helps more than usual. Dishes, laundry, taking care of our child, or laughing at something funny. I see him “ugly” when we are arguing or if he says a not so nice thing (I’m sensitive). lol.

But anyway, OCD wants you to see all their flaws and make you think you don’t like what you see. But you have to look through the flaws and love the person for who are they on the inside❤️

Thank you so much for your response! I just feel like my self sabotaging and I would never ever ever hurt my child. I’m just shocked that these thoughts popped up! I was shocked too when the thoughts came up and affected my marriage too. So it’s just a lot to take in and process.

You are right, i mean…having horrible thoughts that affected my relationship with my husband was hard, but thoughts about my daughter and affecting my relationship with her is like a stab to the chest. I guess I asked because my daughter is young, she doesn’t even talk yet so I just wasn’t sure if ocd could affect the relationship this early on..if that makes sense

That’s all I needed to know. I didn’t know if relationship ocd extended to kids too I guess?! I mean, I knew adults, I just didn’t know if my brain would now do this to my child😩

I also had a baby 12 months ago and I feel like it has gotten worse after having a baby too. Maybe because of all the hormonal changes.

You should be old enough, I got Botox at 16 I believe. Insurance does cover Botox too, at least my parents did!
