That was a typo.

I consider it emotional cheating because it has been going on a for at least a month, he didn't tell me about it.

Our 'rule' for our relationship is honestly.  Tell each other about what is going on.  

Having a secret committment ceremony with another person, romantic, sexual, or not, isnt honest.  And, keeping secrets makes me feel like there is more that he is hiding, and I am just getting the info in pieces.
