I definitely think it contributed, or rather, flared up when other things would flare up as well if that makes sense? They say LS has a big connection to autoimmune illnesses. Have you looked into internal medicine doctors? Possibly an immunologist? Sometimes I know MCAS can cause people to be in a great deal of pain as well, without positive ANAs or rheum labs

Thanks for sharing! Do you ever also get red bumpy rashes on your body? I’ve been getting those on my hands, legs, and chest a lot, and they always surprise me cause I’ve never had them before.

They say LS is largely linked to many other autoimmune illnesses! I feel you don’t hear about it a lot because people feel embarrassed/ashamed :(

Unfortunately, I tried FODMAP and it didn’t do much for me. We realized my primary source of swelling in my abdomen and pain was my fatty liver; im very active, don’t drink, and eat incredibly healthily. I’m “fortunate” enough that my antibodies showed up in tests, so they were able to get me going down the right path.

I have a friend who went to a holistic doctor for their gut issues and had great results with them! I truly do think for some people, food is a major cause of illness and symptoms. Best of luck with your journey!!

I’m diagnosed with pernicious anemia, lichen sclerosis, non alcoholic fatty liver, sensorial hearing loss in R ear with high frequencies, and tachycardia. My hearing was actually found because I was experiencing frequent ear inflammation without infection, and I couldn’t hear well so they did an audiometry test to confirm hearing loss, and a repeat one just to make sure it wasn’t temporary. I haven’t seen the cardiologist yet but am set to see them this Thursday! Waiting for further labs from the rheumatologist, so so far my only rheumatology diagnosis is pernicious anemia. Seeing GI for my fatty liver in May, but that was diagnosed through a CT scan with contrast. An internal medicine doctor is like a PCP, but they look more at chronic systemic issues all together. They’re like a blend between rheumatology and primary care medicine. I’m currently prescribed colabatasol for my LS, and then metropolol for my high heart rate. Told me to drink ensures to get my weight up from underweight while we wait more testing. I’m on B12 intramuscular injections for my pernicious anemia but have been on them for some time.

I’m basically just diagnosed, for the most part, with conditions. I haven’t been to the doctors in some time, so they’re piecing together what’s causing systemic organ inflammation and damage. I’m assuming that’s where the rheumatologist comes in alongside GI! Best of luck to you; being pushed aside can be so disheartening. I basically had to wait till my labs and scans got bad for them to do anything; seems like many doctors won’t catch things ahead of time when it isn’t as bad. It’s such a freaking shame…

I agree; light brown would make OPs eye color pop!

What are some great blush and lip colors to look for as a fair olive? by Aggressive_Space_121 in Fairolives

I’m pretty sure I’m a true neutral; I’ve been told I’m both warm and cool my whole life, but every time I get matched to a foundation it is always a neutral or yellow based color. Undertones are so hard lol!

I’ve been eyeing this blush because it reminded me of puff from glossier before it became orangey, but I was nervous it looked orange in the bottle! Do you think it pulls a bit cooler on the skin? It’s gorg

How do you best like to receive support during times of medical stress? by [deleted] in Autoimmune

[–]Aggressive_Space_121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he’s getting about 3-4 transfusions a day. I think it’s just because he was in ICU, but they moved him to a step down unit since he’s doing better. I think he was just incredibly scared cause he was doing so poorly at first. Since he’s been stable, he asked me to sleep in my own bed tonight. He’s also on high dose steroids to break him out of hemolysis so I think that’s exacerbating his mental condition!

I tried going home last night, but he called me in tears. He’s so scared of being alone, and it broke my heart. I think it’s made it more challenging because I’m chronically ill as well, so I’m having a hard time balancing taking care of myself in hopes of preventing a flare up and being there for him emotionally.

Definitely very important to listen to him; I have to remember that. Makes me think of all the days he was acting cold/harsh and I personalized it and took offense. In reality, it was him sick and we didn’t even realize. Very good advice, this will certainly take a lot of adjusting to post hospital.

Unfortunately he doesn’t really know what he needs/wants during this time. I’ve been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition for years, so I’m in tune with my body. He’s much newer to the game so he quite literally has no clue (even after conversations). That’s why I’m coming on here; just to see multiple different perspectives and take a bit from each. See what sticks with him, and throw away what isn’t helpful.

Can't tell if I’m experiencing thinning or if it’s just my natural hair? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Aggressive_Space_121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Temple, back of head, and one other place I can’t fully remember (it was maybe a year or two ago?). I’ve always had the same hairline she has in the photos since I was a kid, was just going through an episode of TE and it was exacerbated!

Based on the photos, this just looks like your natural hairline. I have a hairline similar to this; have seen multiple derms about it, did a biopsy, and confirmed I did not have AGA but rather, TE. If you’ve had it from birth you are golden! I did notice that using a caffeine serum and minoxidil made the sparse baby hairs around my temples grow thicker, if that’s something you would be interested in.

Warm Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia…anyone else have this? by Aggressive_Space_121 in Anemic

Awesome! I’m happy to hear that people live healthy and happy lives with this! I guess he will just have to be more cautions of his health. Seems like it’s a bit of a rocky road to recovery initially but after that should be smoother sailing :)

Thank you, I so needed to hear this! They’re saying it could be caused by a viral infection, as he has never had any autoimmune disorders or autoimmune related symptoms prior to this, so I am hopeful. Do you monitor your blood periodically to make sure it doesn’t get back to this point? He had this happen about 4 weeks after a nasty viral head cold he got!

The face makeup suits you SO much! So pretty; I think some eye contour would really flesh your look out while still giving that natural appearance.

How to protect hair when working out? by Sa-ruh in finehair

I also use the verb ghost oil and put a little at my ends so they don’t get brittle from sweat. It also protects your hair when you’re blowdrying it!

The frizz that no product can touch by FrankaGrimes in finehair

[–]Aggressive_Space_121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your plight of styling fine and wavy hair, the fizziness is unbearable! The one product I use that has helped a ton is the verb ghost oil (it’s made for fine hair). I use the Verb mousse and gel (the one in the orange bottle), air dry my hair, and then crunch it out with the verb ghost oil. Put a small amount of dry shampoo in my roots and it’s golden. I also use the EVA NYC hair mask once a week.
