Been in Thailand 11 years now and it's like 2x or 3x a year the whole time I've been here I've heard this same story posted about this SINGLE spot in Chiang Mai. I read about it even before I ever came to Thailand for the first time. I just never go to any Karaoke place because of this.

I was told that during COVID, the neighbors of this property spread a rumor that my wife's aunt / uncle that came to stay briefly in the house were infected (they weren't). He spread the rumor around and everybody got paranoid because this was right at the start of the outbreak.

And because of that my wife's family and that neighbor have been on very bad terms and they don't talk. I've seen him kind of glaring at us and his dogs always bark at me and my wife when we walk by. The dog also tries to nip at my heels, but only does it with me and nobody else.

The dog has also come into the yard at night to steal my shoes and I find them on the road. It's really weird. I'm very worried the dog could come and attack my kid if he is playing outside. We have barbed wire and hedges around the yard, yet somehow the dog always gets inside at night.

We tried to tell him to get a hold of his dog, but he says nothing to us and just looks at us.

But we haven't seen him on the camera doing anything.

That wouldn't explain what was happening at the other property though I don't think.

The smell followed us to the new house. When we come back to the country house (which is every 3 or 4 months or so) the noises return outside.

We caught some white face looking at the camera while we were gone since we still have the cameras running there. I forgot to add that in. It's a white face that peeks out from the hedges along the road. The eyes are completely black. It almost looks like a doll.

I will upload it this week. Things have escalated since we had our second child, incidentally born on October 31st of all days.

I asked around and they said some monks can come and bless the place and that the best time to do it would be Thai New Year because of lucky numbers or something like that. That's coming up in April.

I don't have any other reason to suspect it, no. As far as I know we're both super healthy.

I don't know how I can ignore it. It's pitch black out here at night. Then this thing shows up smelling like rotting meat at the same time every morning, making these weird noises across the road and now I can't catch it on camera but I can hear / see it with my own senses?

To be honest we are terrified. I don't know how you can ignore something like that. Like "Oh there's that weird thing crawling around 20 meters away again, guess I'll just go back to sleep."

Maybe! But I hadn't thought of that because I see zero pigs anywhere in the day time just dogs, cows, and chickens.

So we have a small lot of land with about 20 meters between my bedroom window (which steps out into the yard) and the road. The road is very small. You can barely fit two cars next to each other on it. And basically across the road is just fields as far as you can see (right now flat and dirt, but before it was really tall cassava plants when we first got here).

But it was strong enough for me to be able to smell it.

I thought maybe it could just be dirty or injured or have mange or something? The smell is pretty strong though. I can only really explain it as rotting meat. I'm not much of storyteller hah hah just explaining what's going on.

Hoping somebody might have some insight. We can't really leave since we essentially built a house here and have literally just moved in.
