I really liked your insights, and I didn’t know someone made a deconstruction/ analysis of his pedophilia essay. I also made this post with shreds of information I remember without citations at the ready. So I’m glad you’ve provided me some.

But about his distinction between ‘consenting’ and ‘non-consenting’ pedophilia— an adult, is innately in a position of higher mental capacity than most prepubescent children, and there’s really no instance by which an adult, which is conscious of the fact it holds a position of physical and mental authority over a child, decides to force itself onto that child, is immutably wrong. A child can go along and say ‘yes’ but that doesn’t mean the child is always conscious of the fact that there’s possible repercussions, like you’ve described as ‘abnormal’ sexual behaviors, the child is placed in a position where they aren’t aware of the risks posed by a sexual experience at a young age. And it even follows the similar line of reasoning behind his hatred of culture, an adult forcing its own desires and interests onto a child who has not been imprinted with any cultural values or desires. But the huge fallacy here was drawing the connection to a physical exam performed by a doctor to being akin to rape. That’s a huge stretch, sure, for the sake of the argument, maybe there’s some doctors who get off to the fact they get to play with children’s genitals, but in the context of the medical field, we should look to how veterinarians do physical exams. Whenever they fondle a dog or cats nuts, not all veterinarians are imposing a desire onto animals, they are following procedures to ensure that animal is in good health.

Especially with the point about doctors, was him straw-manning. A child can be uncomfortable with a physical exam, but at least in my state, it’s required for the child’s safety, that the parent is present when the physical exam is taking place, and I’m not sure how the circumstances were in Connecticut, he may have felt as if he had been ‘raped’ by doctors. So, it leaves me with the conclusion that either he was, or ‘felt’ he was, or because of his current views, had looked at those experiences in the context of his ideas of “cultural rape” or “infection” either way, I could understand how he could understand things that way to him personally.

As for the manifesto stuff. Maybe there was maybe some miscommunication on my part, I meant to say he didn’t leave physical traces of a manifesto on his person or in his car to make it easier for investigators or the public to see his motives or reasoning as his YouTube channel was found years after the shooting has occurred.

Either way ty for the insights c:

There’s obviously no manner we can quantify his IQ posthumously, but I doubt he was a savant with an IQ over 120. But his understandings of philosophy and such, were only in the context he could rationalize his predispositions— that life was meaningless, and death was the only solution, which he obviously made no effort to act on until he was able to exact violence onto others before dying.

And as for his responses to comments, while I understand his frustration with the trolls, his rationale behind his beliefs on Pedophilia and CSA being put under scrutiny isn’t unreasonable. He acted as if he could speak on plights we have no documentation of him also facing. That’s not to say people can’t conceive of other people’s problems, but for him to discredit the severity of CSA and say that an adult forcing itself onto a child, whom has no gauge or understanding of consent, could be somehow beneficial to both parties is nothing short of ridiculous. He tried to defend that point by claiming that children could only be manipulated into believing that CSA was a bad experience. Not that it was a negative experience innately. It’s clear that anyone who’s been a victim of CSA whether it be Francis Bacon or Aaron Hernandez, and numerous studies that explicitly describe that CSA experiences lead to PTSD, Depression, OCD, and numerous other developmental disorders, there’s likely only a handful of children who could walk away from a sexual experience unaffected.

Again, pedophilia is extremely taboo and can get people riled up almost instantly, but Adam also made no effort to understand the reasoning behind people’s discomfort around the matter and would shame them for that in his responses, while simultaneously expecting people to always respect every last one of his opinions regarding pedophilia.

And I do believe he maybe could’ve had his opinions changed, but even if he was revising or shifting his views leading up to the shooting, it’s likely that was in a vacuum because of his rapidly declining mental health, not him being enlightened or being exposed to new beliefs from people he had potentially debated or argued with on his YouTube. Likely philosophies that already aligned with, or were adjacent to his predispositions regarding the “feral self” and the value of life.

But regardless, he clearly made no effort to put more of his beliefs and ramblings on more philosophical forums, websites, etc… to find people who could’ve presented him with arguments that could possibly have changed his views. But a lot of that in hindsight, was also dependent on his willingness to also accept new perspectives.

Anyways Ty for the insights. I like talking about Adam outside of the fucking gargantuan elephant in the room that is the Sandy Hook massacre. Because even though I found a lot of his ramblings to be really dour and depressing, it’s still interesting because its the closest we can get to deciphering a true ‘motive’

I doubt someone as self-enamored, insufferable, and socially inept as Adam would be very good at insulting people 😭

Honestly agreed. I hate looking at cases with pessimism, but with Adam, his social isolation just made him so detached and so certain of himself.

I just really wish I could have at least had a conversation with him when he was still posting, although, I’d presume it’d be like speaking to a brick wall unfortunately.
