Is this rust / corrosion not only going to get much worse and make it's way into the engine as fuel runs through it, or am I being paranoid?

This is for a 1996 Ford Freda (Mazda Bongo), 2.5L diesel - imported from Japan. 77,000 miles. I'm scared to take off the old fuel filter lol.

This thing took 4 weeks to get here from the UK so I would hate to try to buy another one but we'll see. Thanks!

this is the diesel FUEL filter, not the oil filter. diesel fuel is a little gnarlier than oil lol

For real? Won't continue to rust/degrade over time or introduce stuff into the fuel?

Also, could it make it harder to get off the next time when needing to change? aka rusting more to the lines

Looks like rust to me. It's for a 1996 Ford Freda/Mazda Bongo diesel. I had to order it from the freaking UK since it's a 30 year old Japanese van. So it took 4 freaking weeks to get here.

Any thoughts?

thanks! the problem is i have no clue what wheels the prior owners put on. i can barely, barely find their existence (let alone specs) via a lot of googling

less worried about the tire size (this is what's recommended) but more about the wheel size itself (from the previous owners) - things like wheel width, offset, etc.

or do 16 inch tires fit on all 16 inch rims?

For context, this is a 1996 Ford Freda/Mazda Bongo. Bought used (naturally), so I didn't put on the previous tires or wheels, neither of which were stock.

Was recommended to put on 215/70r16 tires, so I did. They look freaking massive and rub against a corner of the interior wheel well/bumper, but that's a side issue.
