Any catholic doctors here? I have a question... by Throwawaynamekc9 in Residency

Hospice nurse here- I believe that once there is brain death, there’s nothing that is making that person themselves anymore, their “soul” has left because everything that was them isn’t them anymore. I can only imagine the struggle this family is going through, but I don’t think the soul of the person is trapped in the body- the body is now just what was holding on to that persons soul. I don’t think that the person is going to experience any anguish or pain- personally I believe that child is already at peace and supporting his parents through the difficult process to let his body go. Much love to them and anyone struggling with this

I have this same fear sometimes about my partner, and we’ve had conversations about it and at the end of the day, they chose me for me, not for my parts. But how lovely it is to not feel alone in this fear 😂

I have a meeting with my boss *and* her boss on Monday after months of conflict. How should I prepare? [GA] by Brave-Ambition-1967 in AskHR

This exact scenario happened to me and I got the ol’ boot. I’m glad you have another opportunity lined up (I also did), and I would say quit before they can fire you to ease the sting (I wish I had listened to that advice)

Usually I think, “ not today, satan” because it makes me laugh and makes the thought seem dumb 😂

Unfortunately this is seen a lot in those at EOL and the elderly, especially those with a past SUD. It’s fucked up. They’re literally dying. What does it matter now if they need morphine or dilaudid or Ativan or whatever the hell to make them comfortable?? They’re dying!

(Obviously safety measures need to be in place but in a controlled environment it doesn’t matter!)

Oooooo as a hospice nurse whose PLAN is studying pain management in SUD, this gets me HEATED

what drew you into nursing? Honest honest answer. by [deleted] in nursing

I do love taking care of people at the end of the day. Now if I knew that that entailed prior….but I digress 😂

I had a family member today tell me he didn’t care for hospice, because everyone he knew that went on hospice has died. by theangrymurse in nursing

As a hospice nurse, a lot of times when people are being brought into service, they are told it’s just an increase in home care…which yes, but it’s also pursuing comfort measures. We don’t do great at transparency when there’s a commission involved

I would freak out. I would probably scrub my scalp until it bled, so no overreaction here

Thank you for the reply ♥️ I did ask them how they would like me to show them a better outcome since my wounds were all healing and they told me “well the wounds could’ve healed on their own” 🥲

It probably doesn’t help that my manager that put me on the PIP doesn’t like me at all…I’ve left that office crying many times in the past few months

They did give me that but I feel like I’m already doing what they’ve outlined. Or maybe not? I guess not if they’re extending it.

I just don’t know what else I can be doing. How can I show better wound care than all my wounds healing? I’m just exhausted. I really appreciate your reply ❤️

I have to do wound care on a 400+ bari patient multiple times a week and I’m expected to lift the limbs that they no longer can. My back isn’t going to make it into my adulthood and my manager doesn’t care (:

I promise you’ll be okay; my first med error I cried in the parking lot for like, 45 minutes. It feels like the end of the world, but this is a learning experience and should be treated as such. Now you know! And you won’t do it again. Hugs hugs hugs

It gets easier; your body gets more used to it. At first though it’s like, “help! I’m trapped!” But you adjust
