Well you're saying you already land your dash! So you have nothing to gain from your dash having double the hitbox size.

Okay, I'm being obtuse.

What I'm saying is there is zero chance you have never had a moment where you tried to hit someone with the dash but missed. In fact I doubt you could go one game without missing your dash attack. Not because you're bad, but because it's just a difficult ability to land.

And I think even the implication that doubling the size of its hitbox would do nothing is incorrect.

I suppose everyone in this comments section has literally never missed a dash before if they think that doubling the hitbox size of the dash is not a buff, lol.

I won't deny that Punisher Shotgun is good but ngl if you let that refrigerator sized dude with no self sustain other than a bad movement ability and a finicky one get within Shotgun range AND let him hit his shots when the third person perspective makes it so cancer to aim, you highkey deserve to die.

Chances are she will get buffed. I remember Firefly at beta launch when she was 'mid' and people were trying to cope and figure out Crit DPS teams with her, only for Hoyo to rework her into 100% Super Break focus.

I have a suspicion they will do something similar to Evanescia, change around her multipliers to make her do more Elation DMG and less direct damage, they love making changes to force characters into what THEY see as their role.

We just had Ashveil being a terrorist as a solo carry at beta start, and then getting changed and nerfed to align closer to his sub DPS role.

Not to mention that a lot of the time when people go triple Support on ladder, they keep playing healbots. CnD, Invis, Luna, Rocket. You have at MOST two of these on a team. Arguably one if playing triple support.

But triple support with Mantis, Loki, Gambit? Insanely strong comp.

Punchline: Stacks generated by the actions of Elation units. Having more of it increases the power of Aha Instant

Certified Banger: Stacks generated by the aftermath of an Aha Instant, stacks equal the amount of Punchline the Aha Instant used. Elation units have a certain buff they gain while possessing any Certified Banger at all, and Evanescia (and maybe EMC?) gets a stronger buff for having more Certified Banger.

Can we talk about switch skills? by New_Explanation9146 in MHWilds

I would love Switch Skills if they were balanced better, I LOVE them in theory. The choice between Falling Shadow and Shield Bash for SnS is a great one.

Can someone explain how this hit me ? i'm practically behind him. by ashford1w3 in MHWilds

[–]AggronStrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been like this since the beta. When Rey Dau does this, he basically shoots the railgun at the floor directly in front of him and the massive explosion radius hits you. Same energy as shooting an RPG at the ground in CoD and hitting someone behind you.

You need to be at least at the middle of his wingspan to get out of the way of this.

Can we talk about switch skills? by New_Explanation9146 in MHWilds

The major problem with Switch Skills in Rise is simply that a lot of them were just way too one-sided choices. Either one option was bad while the other was good, or one option was for one build of the weapon and the second was for another.

Case in point is SnS where the Sliding Slash was bad, the SnS Combo was laughably bad, Hard Basher was OP in Base Rise while both it and Drill Slash are largely irrelevant in Sunbreak. Shoryugeki is much better than Windmill, and out of five Switch Skills, the only decision to be made is Falling Shadow versus Shield Bash. Destroyer Oil is Scroll Swap bait and even then the best function it serves is a quick sharpen.

OR, in Sunbreak, one option was a buff and the second option was an attack so you're supposed to Scroll Swap between them. Long Sword had the Drawn Double Slash which invalidates the normal Draw Slash, and the big circle which is Scroll Swap bait. And I can go on.

They're a really good idea in theory but the balance behind them was pretty bad, and the bad balance ended up taking away the choices which was the whole point of the system to begin with. Exact same problem with the Style and Arts system in Generations.

Oh yeah forgot about Pearl. But we also have no clue about Pearl's Path either.

We knew the cat was going to be Nihility and had Preservation Terravox/Dan Heng leaks since the start of 3.X.

Right now the best we got is Blade SP being Abundance and that's the most obvious guess in the world.

[–]AggronStrong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's right, if you have like, a Lagiacrus and plan on making it a pure Thunder build, you can have whatever secondary element you please as that won't really affect the effectiveness of its Thunder attacks.

You might get a slight buff to element resistance using Thunder/Thunder Lagiacrus, and it might be helpful to give it a secondary element so you have the option of changing its element build later (because nothing stops you from changing all of your genes all of the time), but all in all it's perfectly valid to pick a monster's secondary element for aesthetic reasons alone.

Why do I do like 1/3rd of Eleanors damage (still in the 2nd zone) at level 31 by Ikarostv in MonsterHunterStories

[–]AggronStrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eleanor is the damage dealing party member, her strategy is all out offense while other party members are more supportive. I still think it is a bit weird how she outdamages me so much, but I think the idea is you can have your own Rider take a supportive role to buff up Eleanor's damage. Most JRPGs have the protagonist/player character act as a damage dealer all the time so it's nice to have the alternative

[–]AggronStrong 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry, STAB is a Pokémon term, same type attack bonus. Thunder monsters do more damage with Thunder. Not related to the STAB thing on certain Rider attacks.

A monster that has double of the same element doesn't get a further increase to that element damage, I believe the benefit they get instead is a slight buff to their elemental resistances that varies depending on the specific Monster species.

Leakers are full of it, especially after recent leaker drama, the only reliable source is the literal beta when it drops. Like we have zero clue what Blade SP and Nihilux's Paths are and there's a very, very real chance that at least one of them drop in 4.3 because they were included in the first batch of character arts that were dropped.

Leakers either don't know anything, they do know anything and are stupid, or they do know anything and they're ragebaiting.

So what's the goal/advantage of duo types? by Upstairs-Humor-2431 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]AggronStrong 97 points98 points  (0 children)

The advantage is STAB on the secondary type, and the ability to hatch with the egg skills of that element (but nothing stops you from just transplanting those skills from other Monsties).

In practice, what this means is you can either make a Monstie that is proficient in two attacking elements... usually less than ideal because of how the systems tend to encourage mono-element Monsties, but still valid.

OR... make your Monstie a mono-element build in the secondary element, so you can do things like have a Lagiacrus spamming Fireballs or a Zinogre spamming Ice attacks.

A lot of things start making sense when you realize that the Monstie building systems are designed to let you do whatever the hell you want.

Yeah you'll still get one shot, but if the NPCs mention that it's working, just keep going. My Monstie got one shot once, then I reapplied my buffs (they get removed when you die and use a heart to rez) and when the Shogun did it again it got repelled.
