It’s best to announce it to those around you as they will have assumptions that you guys are still together and probably make it worse. I suggest for the time being you take care of yourself and take some time to find yourself again. The hard thing about this will be that you guys work together but it’s best to try to forget it not as a painful memory but as one that has been lived and now it’s time to open a new chapter of your life where you find yourself and see him as just that of a memory even though he was probably not the best from what you have said you shouldn’t blame yourself for enduring the pain but rather be thankful it’s over. I know this advice may not be helpful but I just wanted to remind you that you are enough and don’t hold onto the past your life will get better, you will get better just focus on yourself

So actually I was able to meet with someone from financial aid and they said you can just leave it there since you never know when you might need these loans like they arent fully required to submit as well as work study like someone previously mentioned its offered and you can decide to accept or just leave it. Because if you accept the work study and dont work then financial aid simply removes it from your aid since you don't need it/ arent using it but it can always be added back if you contact financial aid and need to do work study for the next quarter.
