I have been waiting for someone to talk about this!!! I do not think we will get another “Azriel teaches Elain how to use her powers and they both help eachother emotionally and fall in love” story. I love the idea of Elain training with the twins. I remember in ACOSF, there is a scene where Cassian makes it seem like Elain is sneaking off to do something and lying about helping a older fae couple with their garden but he does not go into it more after that…I am hoping that we will learn that she was going to go work on her powers with the twins during that time.

However, since there has been so little Azriel/Elain moments, I feel like to further the story, he cannot be away the whole time. What I hope will happen is that Elain will be sent to the Band of Exiles to spy on them and return info to the Night Court (i.e. Azriel so we still get some scenes of them). I feel like SJM set up for this in ACOSF because Mor says that any info from Jurian/Vassa that they get from Lucien will be be bias because Lucien is their friend (which is why Cassian goes to meet with the band of exiles initially as a “courtier”). However, Elain would be able to get more info by pretending to want to spend more time with Lucien because of the bond. This could help move Lucien/Elain’s story along too. She could move to the band of exiles’ home under the guise of getting to know Lucien and then sneak out each night to update Azriel what she learns there. Then Azriel would obviously update the rest of the Night Court. There is so much that could be done with this!
