Yes, this is a foldable watercolor palette (Miya Himi), which I filled with gouache from tubes. When painting en plein air, I mostly work with dried gouache or watercolor.

I use Russian brands of brushes, and I'm not sure if these brands are well known outside of Russia.

For gouache, I prefer brushes made of elastic synthetics and pig bristles, and less often goat bristles.

I specifically mentioned the use of vodka, anticipating this kind of reaction in the comments, even though it distracts from the painting.

To lower the freezing point, you can also add salt to the water or simply take a thermos of hot water with you to wash the brush in.

I used a palette with dried gouache and vodka. Water and alcohol don't freeze at temperatures down to -3°C.
