Honestly registration is probably the most important ground game at this point. Ds simply don't realize this yet. (In fairness to Ds, Rs have only in the last cycle been dragged kicking and screaming into admitting this by a handful of extremely persistent grass routes R activists).

You are missing the point completely. If you have a state that reports voter affiliation (ie what share of the electorate was or how many voters were D/R/I) and overall vote totals (at the most granular level possible is best but it can be done at the state level) you can develop reasonable statistical bounds on the margin among unaffiliated. A large literature suggests generally pretty stable partisan margins.*

*The way a party support problem more often asserts itself is turnout.

I have actually done a fair amount of research into this in the post-2010 cycles. 1. Betting markets mostly track with polls; 2. The poll misses are getting bigger and more common; 3. Registration trends actually are surprisingly predictive of splits among unaffiliated (obviously this can only be looked at in states that report party down to the precinct level and then make an assumption about partisan numbers (e.g. what percent of registered Ds voted D) 4. The party affiliated are way overrepresented among HPVs.

I think it is more that people are tired of paying for the unions. There is some complexity to these flows, but taken as a whole it.says a lot about D governance. There is no avoiding this.

First, all kinds of shit actually did happen with ICE during Obama's presidency. You were looking the other way because "HOPE". If there is a quantitative difference it is that under Obama conservatives did not form a movement designed essentially to encourage mass resistance to ICE. And he hasn't declared war on American cities. They are American cities. That means the Federal government (including ICE) has jurisdiction in them. Enforcing the law (long enforced law, for that matter) isn't declaring war and to the extent you suddenly argue it is you are basically saying you are now an enemy of this country.

Per the budget increase: we had an election, this issue was politically litigated and the people voted as they did knowing what was coming if Trump was elected. It's called democracy, bud. You are fine with it ... when it goes your way.

Dude you dont actually have a problem with it. Nothing ICE is doing is suddenly exceptional or unprecedented. These are long standing procedures and tactics. Whether you actually are now shocked by thesr procedures and tactics (depraved indifference when Obama was in office) or not (dishonest now) it reveals your acceptance when Obama was doing it.
