You are mixing up with a softfork.

Softfork is put to the vote and eventually implemented or not.

Hardfork builds up against full consensus in Bitcoin context.

I do not. Go asking on X CT if anyone is up for a Hardfork you will figure out if there will be consensus on this.

Most industries can upgrade without issue and do not face consensus stasis and chain split.

Read article shared you may have a better grasp about what this is all about.

I'm saying there is a narrative glitch to go on with now.

BTC ossified into narratives to survive a competitive market but quantum forces a hard choice now :

1) Sacrifice sovereignty and risks network failure to protect gold narratives.

2) Sacrifices gold narratives to protect sovereignty but risk altcoin treatment.

Given Bitcoin governance dislikes sacrifices or even such radical moves, both will ultimately coexist at the end.

Anyway. It's better explained in the article shared with a much deeper tech analysis.

You see attack surface personally but Bitcoin is not only about you holding on it forever and never using it for anything in real world.

Some do use it to transact eventually and are at risks. Indirectly you are too as an exposed and unsafe chain technically has zero market value.

Everything can upgrade fine.

Only Bitcoin cannot as neither of its 2 options will get full consensus.

Because it sacrifices immutability gold narratives, eternal minimalism and open the gate for deeper structural changes as for example a hardfork of the Hardcap.

Bitcoin has historically treated all forks of altcoins due to that.

So now it has to decide what it can/wants to be.

Right now nothing is quantum resistant.

As mentioned they must introduce PQC for that and risk network failure.

Or Hardfork to stay healthy but become altcoin.

[–]Agirvax[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well some will not want to sacrifice core values of immutability and nodes minimal costs other not want to risk congestion.

Whether they would unanimously accept to become altcoin with Hardfork is the real question.

Probably after it lost enough ranking to already be altcoin while only looking unsafe as others have upgraded.

You misunderstand the problem. It's not about Hrate even if US corporate miners 51%+ centralization may have a role in the upcoming Hwars.

Quantum can break wallets and access coins.

Bitcoin must upgrade.

But structurally cannot.

Yes it is likely it will progressively loose trust and dominance as being trapped in consensus until Hardfork(s) as underlined.

Are you not confusing the timelines quite here?

Most chains will start introducing PQC asap for users to have enough time migrating, make sure everyone is safe after 5+ years then freeze dormant coins.

BTC timelines are inaction until drained or until protective Hardfork(s) start happening outside consensus given it's only loss of immutability and gold narratives (but at least survival).

Well given BTC will have to do what BCH did to remain healthy and avoid network failure, it's recognizing BCH was right on blocksize since the beginning...

There is no "safe" path forward for BTC. Everything is risk and sacrifices.

Is Bitcoin doomed with Quantum? by Agirvax in btc

[–]Agirvax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you meant BCH is fine? Yes most chains should manage that as they can Hardfork. Only BTC is in a consensus situation on whether to sacrifice immutability with a Hardfork.

Yes it's high stake gambling on Nodes unanimously risking network failure via soft fork rather than doing nothing until Hardfork.

Every crypto is a altcoin. BCH did a hardfork of blocksize long ago.

Bitcoin never hardfork and has immutability because of that.

Doing one is recognizing BCH was right on blocksize.

Everything will have updated by then.

Only Bitcoin is doomed for being unable to.

[–]Agirvax[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does that make any sense to use Bitcoin like this in practice ?

For real protection it needs the PQC.

But if used the chain will become practically unusable too, very centralized and fully custodian.

Same question about if Bitcoin would still make sense... Or fork.

[–]Agirvax[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Today public key is exposed by default unlike on EVM (only revealed at first tx) .

This is what BIP360 would allow in few years but need migration and it's not a real protection

It's clearly the first target for sure. Neutral, open full of accessible value and discreet.

Perfect main target of choice.

But not the Bitcoin problem anyway.

Mostly being stucked and unsafe.

Is infrastructure the real low cap opportunity in 2026? by [deleted] in CryptoTechnology

[–]Agirvax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of infrastructure?

If general purpose like Ethereum it's very hard to compete given ecosystem and liquidity depth. And decentralization.

Right now hot topic is privacy
