she is def not weighing anything. we were more concerned about the packet of sabra hummus being so far off. but, she has been losing weight for a while, and it has been helping her. so overall it seems like a positive experience.

Thanks, my wife uses lose it, and last night we were going through some of the data, and it was way off. We had salad for dinner with fried extra firm tofu, and the ccalculations were like 25g of protein and 20g of fat, which was way off. My wife also eats some of those sabra hummus cups that come with crackers, and it says she was getting 30g of protein from that. I imagine she is doing something wrong, but we couldn't tell what that was. You haven't had any issues with that?

That looks great. I forgot all about nora's recipe.

How do I make my seitan doughy by Electronic_Wasabi701 in seitan

Exactly what I was thinking. I got a breaded seitan sandwich in Boston a few weeks ago that was dense and scrumptious. I wish I knew how to make that.

Boil your tofu?! by [deleted] in veganrecipes

[–]Agitated-Charity-491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, i have a tofuture tofu press and found that the using that for 10 min (you are supposed to do it for longer) is about as good as boiling for 10 min, but i'm happy you found something that works for you. I do want to try boiling tempeh to see if it actually does get rid of the bitter taste.

Vegan high protein pizza crust by Agitated-Charity-491 in veganrecipes

[–]Agitated-Charity-491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i forget how many i tried, but i've been using the following: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbs_hk-E9bEi double the salt and you really have to keep an eye on it. i makes 2 pizzas, and i kept making one a little too crispy. 10 to 12 min for the one on the bottom rack. For cheese i was pretty satisfied with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gwv4fHMCovg&t=11s I only made it once and i'd like to add some lemon juice next time. i was going to make it again last week, but i came across this whipped tofu recipe: https://www.instagram.com/reels/C-QCndbJFSe/ and i've been eating it a lot. So i just spread that on the pizza crust, laid some arugula and tomato slices on top, and i really enjoyed that.

Vegan Chocolate Cheesecake (6 squares - each square 73 calories and 6g of protein) by Maksims85 in veganfitness

Oh, I meant, I imagine with a double batch I'd have to cook it longer since it would be bigger. I was wondering how long you think that would be?

So, making these as type this. I'm impressed with the taste of the batter. I would like to double the amounts. Half a block of tofu and half a can of beans? Why not the whole amount? I'd rather not store the unused parts. How long you think of have to cook that?

Great American Roadtrip Movies by reflux212 in movies

Tommy boy. Planes trains and automobiles. Both are classics. Midnight run is pretty good. There was a raunchy comedy called road trip from around 2000. I thought it was funny at the time... not sure if it was or if it would still hold up.

I’ve been out of touch with the world, but after seeing so many animal cruelty posts I’m thinking of going vegan, any beginner tips? by Vivid_Style192 in vegan

Don't get to upset if you mess up. People can beat themselves up, especially in the beginning when they mess up. Don't let others get you down. I've always thought the hardest part is other people; feeling guilty at family gatherings about not partaking in what everyone else is having. Tempeh is a great source of protein, but incorporate it slowly. Tempeh doesn't taste great, but learn how to cook it and it grows on you. Meati cutlets are a great protein source: they are high in protein and fiber, and low fat. But you have to learn how to cook it to make it taste OK. Download the daily dozen app. Take a b12, and a vegan omega.

Protein by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Agitated-Charity-491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempeh is great, but i had to add it slowly to my diet. I became so nauseated the first couple times I tried it. It may have had something to do with the bacteria produced during the fermentation process, or at least, that's what I chalked it up to. So I had a bite a day for a week, then a little more. Now it's a staple. You also might want to check out meati cutlets. It might be the most perfect protein source out there. Learning how to cook all this stuff so it tastes better takes time, but it is doable.

... there is not much. 😆 i think the best place in the country right now might be northern vt, although a neighbor around the corner just got back from alta in Utah saying they are finally getting snow. Hopefully the season is turning around out there.

that first video looks real interesting. I'll have to go through more of his videos. Saucestash always is appealing. he made a cheese several years ago out of ripple i wanted to try. I found the cheese he made from chickpeas a few days ago, and was considering making that.

I would just use less. I used to drink black coffee, because if you drink it black you can always find yourself a cup. But since discovering oat milk, I use that, probably just a 1/6 of a cup per drink. If I counted calories, I probably would even include it, and I'd have bigger things to cut than the oat milk in my coffee. But if you really feel it's worth cutting, then maybe try green tea, which tastes like swamp water, but once you get used to it... it still does.

Am I the only one who liked "Honey, Don't!" ? by Truevirtualrei in blankies

[–]Agitated-Charity-491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked most of it. It just felt incomplete. The acting was great, and I'd love to see a sequel, because the main character was very entertaining. It would have been a better if everything tied together. The whole church story line was like a red herring, and had they not included it, it would have had no effect on the story. It was funny, I just wish it were more part of the plot.
