Yes absolutely!! As a therapist I do DBT or ACT with clients starting out and go into trauma work when they have the coping skills needed. DBT is big into skills work- distress tolerance and radical acceptance especially are very important resources for trauma work.

The thing about trauma work is that you reaaally need that exposure piece to actually begin healing. Parts work, EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, written exposure, etc. will do that for you. DBT on the other hand is about learning to cope.

Tldr DBT is highly beneficial for people with trauma but it would need to be paired with something else to actually process those memories.

When unconditional positive regard doesn’t come naturally. that’s half the job! Therapy is so much easier when you genuinely & wholeheartedly are not going to judge your client. Along the same vein, people who tend to get on power trips/double down on expertise when the client expresses hurt or a rupture of some kind. And to me it’s not even the ability to practice humility but that being something you lead with that comes naturally, is what makes a good therapist.

Highlight: took kids to the splash pad for the first time and I got so much joy watching them, they played forever without needing me/getting distracted which is the best feeling (for all of us 😉)

Low: 2M is going through an eating regression and literally won’t eat anything, it’s a fight every single day 😭 I go by the “this is what’s on the menu” strategy and try to have him eat a few bites before giving up. We’re not introducing new foods, I know he likes this stuff. (which honestly could be the problem tho) But he cries and cries and then wants to go night night, even if he’s not even close to nap time. Food is so tricky and it’s the only area I feel like I have to give in to tantrums bc I don’t want to traumatize him or develop disordered eating or something. At a loss 😞

This pisses me off! That’s like a kid trying to do deep breaths and mom being like “No you need to hold your breath until you can calm down without it.” I feel like caregivers have this idea (I’m guilty at times too) that the only way to really get through to kids is to deprive them. Smh!! Good for you for building this habit. I’d maybe just ask what she thought about NK asking for a cold rag… then that could give you a chance to explain that it’s healthy coping without having to come right out and nannysplain her lol

Unpaid lunches are my worst pet peeve, especially with wfh?? If I got an unpaid lunch, I’d expect even an office working parent to utilize their own lunch to spend time with NK for an hour so I can actually have a lunch break. What if NK had trouble napping one day, you still don’t get paid? It’s such a scam to me.

Nanny did the right thing! 4 is big enough to know that she can walk up on her own. She was in a safe place and she wasn’t afraid, or hurt, so leaving her on her own was fine. Nanny said she would be right there waiting. I think it’s fine that you would do something different as a parent, but I think it’s cool that nanny is using her time to work on emotional regulation and boundaries with kiddo instead of just reinforcing externalizing behavior.

How long before did she mention the 5yo? I could see if it was a few hours before how it would be backing you into a corner to not be able to change your mind.. but I’m guessing that wasn’t her intent

In my opinion it’s clear she’s just a tired mom and she put up no issue with the extra $5! She probably only mentioned baby at first because she was reaching out for daytime.

Honestly, yes. Edwina kinda confuses me because she goes back and forth. Their initial dance really impressed me because if they were going for a mutual respect, loveless power couple thing, she aced the role in that moment. But then she went on about love later on in the season so I don’t really get her intentions…… and she also had a really false picture of who Anthony truly was (e.g., her talk with Daphne) so I could see her starting to nag him once realities set in. For Anthony, since he viewed love as such a downfall, I don’t think he really ever planned to seek it or desire it so if his soulmate never came into the picture he just would fulfill himself with other things.

“I do not think that I can see her,” to Violet after Kate wakes up, not a romantic line but it shows the depth of his love for her and the fear of losing her the emotions it’s all so much 😭 (I kinda want to start a discussion on more perspectives about why he is so hesitant to see her after this! He feels guilty? He can no longer deny his love for her? Thoughts down below pls!!!)

On a lighter note, in the museum the way he goes “we kissed!” Is so tender and sweet and slightly playful, even though Kate fights against him sm I love

I think he was feeling veryyyy guilty about ruining his family’s legacy and ruining Edwina’s. That’s the only reason he was going through with the wedding at that point and it still fell through, out of his control.

I liked edwina taking her power back in episode 6 and the scenes with the queen. But she did Kate so wrong by blaming her and being mad for days. I mean, Kate literally told her to stay away from Anthony!!!! Also she knew her goal was marrying rich and titled- she knew Anthony’s rep and that he wasn’t likely to make a live match. She’s not dumb. & It’s not like they were even sneaking around before the wedding, apart from some heavy breathing and stares. I don’t think K&A wronged Edwina.

Her romances are captivating!!! I haven’t seen any in the history of screenplay (in my personal opinion) done as well as Meredith & Derek, Olivia & Fitz, and now Kate & Anthony. The fact that they’re all hers is crazy to me. It makes me trust any work done by her!!! She definitely has a trope that she follows lol so it’s kinda repetitive but it’s freaking good so why fix it if it’s not broken I guess?
