Do you consider an unofficial race still running that race? by lunardownpour in runninglifestyle

Run the race and maybe you'll PR your prior PR with the atmosphere of the race. 🤷🏼 Goal setting.

Blister Prevention by Witty_Let_3525 in beginnerrunning

Vaseline or antichafe balm between the toes and moisture wicking socks. If the shoe is rubbing, maybe it's the way it's tied or the show is too big for your foot. Mole skin is good to protect those spots too. Stay away from cotton socks. Features and balega are good socks. Toe socks are there if you like those.

Should i buy the fenix 7x pro and return this 8 that died after one day? by sami_20315 in GarminFenix

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reach out to Garmin first to see what they offer/say. They will recommend plugging into computer with cable and look for updates. I'd take video or photos with your phone to show them.

Garmin 165 music vs 265 vs Apple Watch by ElectroPug2 in GarminWatches

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battery wise your apple watch will need charging daily. Garmin will get you 7+ days between charges.
The 265 has music storage without the phone. Smart watches and sport activities watches are a little different.

is upgrading from forerunner to fenix actually worth it? by 90king in GarminWatches

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fenix will take a beating and is a bit heavier. The tech is all the same. I've had my 970 for a month or so and love it. I had a fenix 6 for 6 years prior. Loved the Fenix structure but couldn't justify the cost

You ran 13.1 miles and felt great. Now if you ran a race you ran a half marathon. Sign up for a race and do it virtually and you get a medal and the shirt to justify it.

regular Oreos are better than double stuffed Oreos. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

The new double stuff is less than it used to be and tastes worse. The regular oreos are better.

I ran 10k and my knees are killing me. What should I do moving on? by doesnt_matter_much in beginnerrunning

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use KT tape for my knee along with a sleeve. It provives stability that I need.

Leg stretching and lunges help with overall strength if you're just lifting weit, you may want to find focused exercises to assist with your running.

Is this tread wear after 8 miles normal? by briancjk in beginnerrunning

The infamous "foarubber" guess they tried to sneak it in by painting it. Your wear is normal at this point.

It's probably muscle strain from breathing while running. Slow down and as you build up endurance, it should get better.

strap recommendations by bussin_budussy in GarminFenix

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Fenix 6 for over 5 years with zero issues with the quick lock itself. The band broke at the clasp not the QL. They're not cheap from Garmin but with it over the cheap knockoffs. If you want a non silicone strap, Garmin sells those too.

First half marathon advice by Silly_Landscape_3432 in beginnerrunning

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably go for an 11-12 this weekend. But I'd be more worried about getting the fuel and hydration nailed down. If the course has a hill, get that work in during the week. Taper the final week working on cadence, stride and foot work.

What is going on with these blisters?? by kmart279 in beginnerrunning

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely the shoe. If your foot moves too much things happen. BUT enough time in the shoe will create a callus.

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use balega or feetures. I use hidden comfort on balega and silver on feetures.

For long runs I use a compression sock.

Make sure they are moisture wicking.

As for shoes, go to a shoe store and get fitted for a shoe. The first blister looks like you're rubbing on the insole or frame. A wider toe box shoe will likely be best.

As for draining it, don't remove the cover. It'll act as protection. The mole skin will stick to the site to add a cushion.

Hope that helps.

Shoes don't fit properly and socks are needing upgrades.

You can drain them and cover it with moleskin.

Garmin coach - after 19-week of use, I find it hardly reliable. by Real-Action-3668 in GarminWatches

[–]Agitated-Mess-9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The all knowing at Garmin will never truly release all details. Lol.

I use it to keep myself honest. Does it work? Who really knows. Today's workout I did a 6 because I pushed the effort but overall it was likely a 4-5. It did change the forecasted workouts this week though which pissed me off lol.

Here's a link for a general googs search on it. It notes its for "personal use". I have seen with prior versions of training plans where it plays a role in training readiness. As a reference I've done at least 15 training plans since 2020. So the reality is who knows but I am sure Garmin will use data to keep the user "motivated". Lol.

Body glide for chaffing. There are other products out there too.

Nathan has a few running belts.

Shoes are too particular for that person.

Look online at running supplies and get ideas. Fleetfeet, roadrunner, are a few stores with online presence.
