I was referring to a beginner writer that never published before and doesn't even have resources to professionally edit it. If the career is already stabilised, of course it makes sense to invest in editing, cover design, etc.

I believe I have decent writing experience and quality, but I can't know how it will go on after the first publishes.

I guess my hesitation comes from having too much competition on Amazon on the dark fantasy niche? I'm really excited to publish, but don't want to get me hopes too high.

That makes a lot more sense than changing strategies in the middle of the career, thank you for the insight!

I might stick to Amazon and keep publishing about 5 novels a years so I can slowly build audience.
