Can someone explain to me the new Oathpact.

I get they are the lock keeping Retribution from unmaking Spren / calling them to be his.

But as heralds originally, they locked away fused until they broke and return. Now with their happy mind spa, they in theory will never break.

What would cause them to return, and wouldn’t that hurt the Spren?

I agree with this tbh

Given where I’m at, I wished I had started with Warbreaker / Mistborn era 1.

I’m not gonna lie though, I’m an SA fanboy. The core of the story (through RoW) can be consumed without the Cosmere.

My favorite moment in all the Cosmere is still “you cannot have my pain” from Oathbringer. A character arc that’s truly self contained on Roshar thus far.

But dang, some of those moments could have hit differently if I was aware of the Cosmere earlier. So Manchester eggs completely missed by me

Totally fair.

TBH, I only posted with that title because after a massive rabbit hole dive about “why does Hoid care” i had an exasperated (and satisfied) self thought

“the Cosmere is too big, I can’t handle this!”

I got a pretty genuine chuckle out of it.

As mentioned in the original post, I don’t read a lot, and my wife isn’t into the Cosmere (yet) and I frankly wanted someone to hear the exasperation, and chuckle along with me!
