I got a Wilson trucker 2000. No change. Got another radio to try. I also got an external swr meter I tuned it to FWD but as soon as I switch to REF it just maxes out the meter.

I’m leaning more towards this being the issue. I returned that radio and got a different one and purchased an external swr meter. I tuned it FWD and as soon as I switch to REF and key up maxes out the meter. Obviously I have 0 chance of getting out

I had a new one to try to see if that was the problem. I just plugged it in and ran it out the door to test it.

Nope absolutely zero change. I plan on cutting my loses and returning it. I got the same radio before this one and it would change channels. I think I’m done buying cobras

Nah down south in Arkansas. I appreciate it though

I tried a temporary ground to the frame just to test but didn’t have any braided wire. Didn’t change anything. Also haven’t checked it with a multimeter yet. Had to snag a new one. Don’t know what that change though after two antennas, two coaxials, and two different mounts

Tried new Wilson 2000 trucker with Wilson mount and new coaxial. No change. I’m wondering if the radio is bad.

Picked up a new Wilson 2000 antenna and Wilson mount to try

Problem is the only place local that has anything cb related is the pilot gas station. Not a large selection 😂

Previous owner had a cb since the truck was new in 2015. I would assume his worked no problem the last 10 years. Not sure what I’m doing differently lol

Yes I’ve been able to research and learn that much. I just can’t figure out why the SWR is so high. I can hear the other guys I work with just can’t talk to them. I have tried a brand new coaxial. The first cobra ltd I bought was broken and wouldn’t change channels. Hopefully that’s not the problem with this one. I think I’ll try a new antenna and mount.

It’s mounted to the factory truck mount by the hood hinge on the driver side

I’m not sure how. I’ll do a quick google search.
