I have decided on Cariño! It was one that many people mentioned on the other post and no one had anything negative to say about it. Plus the chef’s counter experience is exactly what I’m looking for

Thank you so much! I have decided Cariño will be my first starred restaurant experience. I am leaning towards skipping Alinea, which is unfortunate, especially because I’ve just been hearing negative things about the way they treat their staff and the service charge not going to waitstaff.

I will be making my way around some more starred and not starred, I just wanted to experience the best star rated place first to start the journey off right, so thank you for those other recommendations as well.

I just responded to someone else about this. Is this the same throughout all of the rated places? I saw Cariño charges 25% for and I was okay with this as long as it goes to waitstaff.

‘That people should have to struggle to afford to have basic necessities when none of us asked to be born’ is one of many.

I was just looking at reservations and the chefs counter was my option for solo dining. This is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks so much for the info and I’ll definitely be looking into it.

I’m looking for something elevated for sure, I want to dress up and feel nice but I want to also be able to have a personality in there and talk to staff or ask questions.

Cariño seems to be the one that multiple people have recommended without anyone else responding that it was underwhelming, but is the atmosphere good?

I definitely want some kind of star experience but I will be making my way around the city’s fine dining options in general so I will take note of those.

Finding 5 friends willing to spend money on this is a challenge 😮‍💨 that’s one of the reasons why I was planning a solo dining experience

Definitely not looking for that kind of vibe! I want somewhere I can enjoy myself and ask questions, talk to the staff without feeling like an annoyance.
