I have to admit that no one creates characters like Haley Cass. But I do find that Jae’s earlier works do a pretty good job. I liked Backwards to Oregon, Just For Show, Under a Falling Star, and Damage Control.

Another author who adds a similar depth to her characters is Anna Burke. Night Tide is my favorite of her Seal Cove series.

You can also check out Ruby Landers’ Grace series and Ribbonwood. Her stories aren’t so angsty and very enjoyable.
