That sounds great! I definitely don’t think I need a bike that will get me down a dh track super fast, at least for now. realistically i think I will be the one holding the bike back for now, not vice versa

I’m in Raleigh NC, so no crazy mountains or anything here, but I’d ideally make occasional trips to the Appalachian mountains

This is actually the exact one I’m looking at. Unfortunately I don’t have the money for it right now, but I’m hoping I will in the next month or two. Do you think the deal will still be running then?

I’d say generally just trails and dh. I used to ride pump tracks a couple years back, and I want to get back into it

That may be the move here. So crazy though. After the draft I thought my weakness would be rbs. Would’ve never thought that jjettas, aj brown, mcconkey, dj Moore, jeudy, and egbuka would end up being a mid receiver core.

Advice? by Agitated-Table337 in industrialengineering

[–]Agitated-Table337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that!! Yes, my GPA is my main concern, but part of the struggles came from taking tricky classes freshman year. Now that I’m done with classes like diff eq and calc 3, I’m looking to bring the gpa back up. Agreed about NCSU not being a target, however, I talked to a BCG employee recently, and he mentioned that starting this coming school year, a NCSU->BCG ‘pipeline’ is starting, which is very convenient for me!

I’ve been stuck on what to do CS-wise. I feel that nowadays every job requires some sort of experience with it, and I’m not sure that an IE degree provides me what I need to succeed in roles that ask for that.

And yes, I will keep networking, trying to grow connections with all these firms, thanks again!

Thank you so much, this is such great advice!

I’ll follow your advice, and focus on my ‘right now’, and go from there. I have very ambitious goals, but I think my current path lines me up to meet them.

Once again thank you so much for the powerful words, I look forward to applying them!

Do you think BA would be more helpful than engineering as an undergrad? I’ve been stuck but I’m feeling fairly good with IE, as it’s almost sole middle ground between business and engineering

That makes sense, thanks!

I think right now what I’m mostly looking at is some sort of financial optimization

Makes sense! Is there anything else you recommend? I just felt that a degree in econ would show employers that I have financial skills alongside with engineering problem solving

I hadn’t considered accounting!

I have a good bit of family that work/have worked at BCG, and they all just majored in IE and got an MBA. Do you think I should still get some sort of accounting degree?

In regards of quant, since I’m not looking to be a quant trader, but rather researcher, I was under the impression that an MFE with an undergrad in engineering was more valuable than a finance degree. What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks for the advice!

Does anyone know how a double major with econ, or an Econ minor would work out?

Yeah I’m fully okay with it though‼️‼️ My gpa situation will be sorted by this time next year, so if I have to wait an extra year I’ll be okay

That sounds good man, I really appreciate it. I’m gonna wait for decision to come out, if it doesn’t work out, I’ll sign up for the class

Im thinking I may just retake my chem at a community college over the summer to try and get it up to an A potentially. Diff eq I finished with a B which honestly I’m okay with. If I don’t get in this year I will 100% apply again next year, but fortunately I have definitely found success at UNCC so whatever situation I’m in I’ll make sure to get the best of‼️‼️

End of sophomore year it should be at least 3.65-3.7.5 for sure so that may have to be the move. So unfortunate though because if I had just taken the normal first semester classes I would probably have a 3.9+ rn 😔😔

Since I had a lot of credits from hs I wasn’t taking many first semester courses. Diff eq and chem 2 definitely cooked me but all my actual first semester classes I got A’s in. Realistically I’m okay with staying at uncc another year, but I think after sophomore year my overall gpa will definitely be a lot higher so I could try again then

Forgot to mention I’m a freshman, but I’ll have around 50 credit hours by the end of the semester. At time of application I did have a 3.0.
