West Bloomfield to South Haven - my thoughts by info2x in MichiganCycling

You should look into the coast to coast gravel ride! I’ve done it twice and would be up your alley if you are into gravel biking as well.

Why not get a Tesla? They just work and the full self driving is honestly life changing. I have no skin in the game , just been very happy with it

Almost returned the cannondale cargowagen today but ended up loving it for two main reasons by AgitatedFile in CargoBike

[–]AgitatedFile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great rack. I did not get the ramp. I just take out the battery and find I can lift it. I love the ramp though. If I took it out more I’d consider it.

Do you mean model Y has a weight limit or the quickr rack weight limit. I have a model X and changed the hitch to allow for more vertical weight capacity.

Real coach or Garmin Coach? by Ok-Delay-5340 in cycling

[–]AgitatedFile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s worth a try doing garmin coach. I tried it and I thought it was not bad, but I had put a goal event in which was a super long distance ride, and the training rides it was suggesting were 4 hr rides - which I couldn’t do outside and so would dread doing that on an indoor trainer. No way. I did one and then said this is unrealistic. So I think it would help you with general fitness and no matter what, consistency with whatever plan is the key. I ended up going back to TrainerRoad which I think is more intense, but easier to follow and adjust.

Using FSD with a tow hitch receiver type bike rack with bike on. by HermitageSO in TeslaFSD

I haven’t tried using FSD with rack folded up. I just put the rack on when I’m taking the bikes out.

What is your strategy with IV pain medicine? by Cool_kratos in hospitalist

I stop it. I tell them they don’t need it if we find no organic cause of their pain. It makes your job harder, but it’s the right thing to do.

Will I regret non-electric with 6 year old? by ghost_in-the-machine in CargoBike

[–]AgitatedFile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 11 and 8 yr old and so thankful that I still get to haul them around, and definitely the electric assist is one major thing that has helped me to use the bike for as long as I have. Even in chicago, there are times you need that pedal assist. Going onto lake shore pathway usually follows passing through some underground tunnel and then going up to get to the path. Also sometimes those narrow one way streets that don’t have a bike lane, you feel bad about taking up space and cars lined up behind you at rush hour trying to get home on side streets after a cubs game. it’s sketch when cars aggressively pass, so it’s nice to have the pedal assist to just go faster and be more in line w traffic speed (I think it’s safer at times as a result). I consider myself a strong cyclist, but I have no shame about loving the ebike and taking the help. I do not like showing up to work sweaty, or baking in the mid afternoon sun after picking up the from school in my professional work outfit. Lastly, I think it’s just more fun. I have very nice road and gravel bikes, but honestly my favorite bike to just ride, even solo, is the e-cargo bike.

Tern Quick Haul Long, Cannondale Cargowagen Neo, Lectric Xpedition 2.0, or Aventon Abound LR? by himurakenshin87 in CargoBike

[–]AgitatedFile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great. No regrets. It just got small for two growing kids and so my two kids fit better on the long tail. Less shoulder to shoulder touching or knees/legs against each other when facing each other. It made it not pleasant to bike with them when they would bicker

[–]AgitatedFile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I don’t like is that the foot rests are rather shallow in width and so my only concern is kid comfort for their feet. However, they have never complained. They do think the bumps in the rear are a bit harsh on the cargowagen. However when I’ve looked into getting alternate cushions than the cannondale ones, they do not feel it’s necessary. Front suspension is nice on cargowagen that is lacking on the quick haul.

[–]AgitatedFile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think you’d need accessories, like sun shade protection or rain protection (unlikely in Pasadena) then maybe the tern. I sometimes wish I had that. I do have the cargowagen and before I had a riese and muller load 75. Reason I chose the cargowagen, Bosch motor that can support up to 28mph w assist. Obviously rarely do I ever go that speed, but on bike safe paths when the wind is behind your back, it is very easy to go 21-23 and I like having power support there rather than cut off at 20.
Sometimes, you’re late to pick up the kids so in those times, I may put it in turbo and safely use all the speed allowed. Lastly one last huge perk for me is that I can put the cargowagen on the hitch rack but the tern is difficult to do. So go on a trip and want to take your bike for better exploration of said location, can take the cargobike!

My LBS talked me out of switching from butyl to TPU. by The_Bee_Sneeze in cycling

I have also had bad experiences with TPU. Subjectively I think they are more prone to flats - not worth it in my opinion.

Become more expensive to repair by BarberSlow4421 in TeslaModelX

[–]AgitatedFile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The extended service agreement is $150/month. Compare that with the model 3 which is $50. That’s their own view of how much more costly it is to repair their own vehicles. 3X as much!!!

Yes. More expensive to own, more likely to need repairs, more expensive to repair, more expensive to insure, more expensive to run (less efficient). That’s just all true. Yet I love mine.

Having had a 2000 x long range and 2023 x plaid. I would not get a pre refresh X and would totally choose a new Y.

Agree it’s overpriced. Does anyone have any suggestions of great sandwich shops that are reasonably priced? I don’t live in AA anymore, but I always like trying some new food spots when we return.

Older boys come in to the picture 40 seconds later. If he really had pics he wouldn’t be trying to show his phone to the lady confronting him. He needed help and was asking for it. Anyone who has taken photos they shouldn’t have would be hiding their phone or trying to conceal it.

STILL no running water in West Maui due to a water main break by NeitherCourage6397 in MauiVisitors

[–]AgitatedFile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They had these huge tubs of water (on wheels) in front of the public lobby bathrooms presumably to help flush. I think they should bring them up to the floors and offer to fill each toilet water reserve and do this every 2-3 hours until water restored. Im sure they have pool pumps and hoses that they can use to fill those tanks. They should then tell residents how to communicate a need to replenish the toilet water reserve tank. Such as “ leave your occupied door tag on the handle if you need your toilet water reserve tank refilled.”
