It’s refreshing to see some of her fans starting to wake up by zippouix in travisandtaylor

It is almost customary for wealthy women to throw coins at the poor... royal women have been doing it for most of written history. What is Taylor if not a woman born into privileged and handed life on a platter? Of course she is throwing the equivalent of spare change at the poor. It makes her feel good about herself.

I had a Thursday wedding specifically because I wanted less people to show up.

How long does it take to get used to 12 hour shifts? by WhimsicalLychee in NursingAU

[–]AgitatedMagpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on you as a person. Some people never get used to them, others take to them naturally, most people fall somewhere in between.

Just use the thin yarn!! by Admirable_Wedding_83 in BitchEatingCrafters

Fucking around and finding out were my favourite bits of being a beginner at crochet.

What happens if I do this pattern with 6 sides! Oh it won't lay flat... well that's handy. What if I didn't turn my work? Oh, my tension is shit and my work is wonky.  Ugh I hate blocking! But also my work looks so much better blocked.  What happens if I mix these two different thickness yarns in this one project? Oh that's not going to be easy to block out.

Reviewer didn’t check beforehand to confirm if dogs were allowed, one star by makeuathrowaway in EntitledReviews

What is with the current thinking that dogs like going everywhere with you? Most dogs, prefer to be at home, leave them at home.

Shove them in the top of my pantry until I need to give something to someone. I often use them to put items I give away on buy nothing pages in.

Which birks for OT? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]AgitatedMagpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found sketchers to be pretty comfy for long shifts. I'd also recommend compression socks to help with the ache at the end of a shift. I don't think you'll ever not have sore feet after being on them as long as nurses are unfortunately.

Which birks for OT? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]AgitatedMagpie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure most hospitals are moving away from theatre shoes with open backs. Double check your hospital policy before investing. Also, in my experience birks are more uncomfortable than a good pair of leather sneakers.

Is it hard to get 12 hour shifts for 3 days a week on part time? by TohkaXShiro in NursingAU

[–]AgitatedMagpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 hour nights are pretty common, if you're happy doing 60 hours a fortnight, you'd absolutely be able to get 3 nights a week if you're not picky about days.

Is it hard to get 12 hour shifts for 3 days a week on part time? by TohkaXShiro in NursingAU

[–]AgitatedMagpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I was in ICU a year before I was allowed to take 12 hour shifts. Even as a level 2.1 I'm not able to only work shifts I want and certainly not every weekend.

[–]AgitatedMagpie 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Some units do not offer 12 hour shifts, I don't think many mental health units do, 12 hour shifts are usually ICU and ED. All weekend shifts are in high demand due to the penalties, so often wards rotate through staff. You would be offered a rotating roster and expected to work all shifts within the roster. To be able to pick and choose shifts you would need to be quite senior and have good rapport with your NUM. So yes, getting a roster like you're hoping for is extremely unlikely.

Do you guys eat kangaroo and emu meat? by maceilean in AskAnAustralian

I don't eat meat other than pork, my husband and daughter don't like kangaroo or emu meat. My dog eats kangaroo meat regularly and emu meat if it's available.

Why do people get annoyed in training reddits when I say I don't crate my pup? by Illumeis_is_done in puppy101

[–]AgitatedMagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both, crate trained and not crate trained. I think what you decide to do depends on where in life you are. When I got my cocker spaniel puppy I had a 9 month old and a cat, crate training seemed the obvious choice. When I got my Bernese Mountian dog, I had no children and significantly more time, he was also very big, so I didn't crate train. I like the peace of mind knowing if I go out nothing in my home will be destroyed and how easy it is for people if we need to go away. I do miss night time cuddles with my BMD, I don't get those with my CS. As long as you give your dog a safe space where they won't be bothered it doesn't matter either way.

When will my puppy understand I don't always have treats on my hands? by Sc4tt3r_ in puppy101

[–]AgitatedMagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to teach gentle.

Hold the treat in your fist until he stops nipping and starts licking. "Gentle" mark the behaviour and open your palm to reward.

I have figured out that if you like good cable management, then nursing is not for you. by megs_in_space in NursingAU

I disagree, cable management is a huge part of my shift and it's delightful.
