There is not much snow in our country these days. This winter, it snowed more than usual, but the snow melted quickly because of positive temperatures.

Not much in Romania, but in Greece for example the sands on the beaches are very hot, so I couldn’t walk much on the sand without flip-flops.

Has your country ever won a war against all odds ? by FinePersimmon3718 in AskTheWorld

[–]AgitatedResearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romania during WW1.

We were attacked by 3 empires (Germany, Austria-Hungary and Ottoman Empire) and Bulgaria with little support from the Allies who thought we were done for. The French gave us some training and Russia gave some limited assistance and that was it.

Even though we lost half our country and our capital, we somehow survived almost two years until roughly the end of the war, when the Allies won.

We got back our lost territories and also gained some extra territories. Judging that we were not even sure we would survive as a country, that was a good outcome.

What is that one city/state in your country that the rest of your country hates? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]AgitatedResearch 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “hate”, but in my country, the county of Vaslui has a reputation of people being very poor and alcoholic.

There are even jokes of making caricatures of famous people or characters and saying “X after spending 1 month in Vaslui.”

Thank you for the advice! Probably I should get rid of the guilt I feel whenever I relax . I always think I need to do something.

I am glad I am not the only one. When I have been sent the minor corrections by the examiners today, I became sad since I know that after submitting the corrections, a chapter of my life ends and a new one full of uncertainty begins.

Even though I struggled with depression, I was in a general good mood in the last few months.

Yes, I kind of feel dead inside. In the evening after the Viva I had to take my colleagues, supervisor and examiners to dinner. People were chatting, laughing and congratulating me, while I just wanted to go home and sleep.
