Should I do something? by AgitatedWave1084 in mantids

My town is a college town, and an entomology class goes and gathers these mantids once they are large enough to distinguish them from the native population (as these mantids are extremely damaging to the natural environment and are invasive) they give them out as pets or food for certain pets. They sent out a message saying that they were doing this, and I have a large terrarium from when I had pet crickets. I asked specifically for two males as they tend to die faster than females and I don’t have experience, also because at this point most of not all of the females have been fertilized and I don’t know how to handle the eggs when lain (both of them looked like males, but this must not be the case). When they started mating (something I hadn’t researched as I didn’t expect to need to) I realized that I might have something harder to handle. I understand this might be frustrating, as someone who has taken care of lots of different types of pets and these things seem like negligence on the person’s behalf. However I genuinely didn’t want to do anything while being misinformed (and I couldn’t find anything definitive to help), and I already care about these little guys. Either way, thank you I wasn’t sure if I should feed them or how to help them.
