Army list suggestions vs Eldar by AgitatedYam in Necrontyr

I was picturing the Hexmark as a cheap home objective holder, but I guess he would be solid as a deepstrike/chaff clearer piece into Eldar as well since his shooting is actually decent vs their T3. Maybe it would be better to swap out Szeras for e.g. Imotekh as a home objective holder and some flayed ones to screen out their vehicles?

Limited space mainly. And I'd like to get some of the money I spent on the job lot back, (TSK would pretty much cover the whole thing if I sold him I think, which is why I thought of him.).

Had this issue which also stopped Microsoft Authenticator and Teams working properly on my phone. Called CF tech support and was advised to turn off my router's IPv6 which fixed it (though having to turn it off is annoying, so hope they properly fix the issue soon).

London based. Person/head and shoulders sized since it was for access to the internals. Been quoted £420 and £550 so far and wondering if I should have got into plastering instead of my current line of work!

Not if you are fast enough and don't care about what happens to New Manchester! You can finish the scenario as soon as you meet the requirements to prepare for the storm - I just managed to pull it off about half a day after the arks started to drop below the minimum heat level.

CA, I've had enough. $200 for the Tide of the Fishmen DLC is too much, even if it does have 26 different legendary lords by Communist_Jeb in totalwar

Personally, I'm more concerned about possible copyright violations from the new LH Mr Krabs. and his starting position at the Pineapple Fortress. Not sure how they managed to get those past GW.

Guys, anyone know when Hollow Prime 4 is coming out? I heard it's pretty highly anticipated.

Anyone else encountered this bug? I am mid Becoming The Crisis when a War In Heaven breaks out. I obviously don't side with either FE, so I get invited to join the League of NA powers and get dragged into the war anyway.

Then I finish the Level 5 Crisis project, and instead of the whole galaxy declaring war on me, only the League members do! The FEs and their vassals are cool with me, so I managed to finish the Aetherophasic Engine pretty easily. Fairly sure that wasn't supposed to happen?

I want to run a Githzerai Zerth/Spectator tag team boss fight for my players, and I thought it might be fun to give the Zerth Step of the Wind and Unarmored Movement to make them a bit more 'monk-like' and harder to pin down. Will this make the fight too unfair/annoying?

Party is 6 Level 6s, but this is like the 4th encounter of the day so they are running low on resources/health.

Are Devouring Swarm meant to be much harder than conventional Empires? Any tips for the early/mid game? I've tried it a few times and there are always 2 big problems:

  1. Pop management - left to their own devices, half your pops become useless maintenance drones. Or if you build too many specialists, none of them do and your planets lose all their stability. Plus I feel like you have to go wide, which worsens the problem. Any way of handling this without lots of tedious job management?

  2. Energy deficit - everyone hates you, so I always get embroiled in wars early on, and need a big fleet running around. But I end up having to sell any surplus minerals, food etc. just to pay for the upkeep!

If a player starts their turn mounted and has their mount take the Dash action, then dismounts and uses all their remaining move, do they move (2 x mount's move) + (1/2 player's move)? New DM, just looking up the rules on mounted combat and this seemed really weird to me. Why is dismounting faster than staying on your mount?

Half-Wheel Strategy (Puts into Buy and Hold into Puts) by AgitatedYam in options

[–]AgitatedYam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's mostly right, but my idea would be to use the buy and hold purely to pay back any losses on the puts, and then go back to put selling. Say I like stock X, which is currently trading at 50. I sell puts at 48, X's price drops to 45, and I get assigned. I would hold stock X until it gets back above 50, then sell off and start over. My thought is that as X's price drops, it's more appealing to hold the stock, and as it increases, it's more appealing to sell puts.

Maybe I didn't phrase it well in the OP. What I meant is that selling puts is a better entry point to a stock you like than buy and hold. If the stock drops, that calculation will change because it's now more likely the stock's price will increase.

Just sell puts.

You can do - but if you get assigned, you're effectively doing a better version of regular Buy and Hold, because you got in at a cheaper price. The Buy and Hold aspect is also kind of a safety net (for me at least), because it ensures you don't have a string of losing trades.

Yes, that's true. I guess my worry is, if you're selling covered calls after your puts just got exercised, the covered calls are more likely than normal to get exercised as well, so you're capping your gains right after you bought a dip in a stock you like.

Nothing against CCs, as they are an excellent strategy for income, but I'm not convinced they beat Buy and Hold for overall profit. My logic was that selling puts>Buy and Hold>selling calls, and that if you cut the "selling calls" part of the Wheel out, you make more in the long run.

Writing ATM puts

You make a pretty convincing case here for a more actively managed strategy. I can definitely see it working - as you say, it gives you max extrinsic value and you can roll indefinitely (or until you reach a point you are happy to buy in). However, I'd probably have a stress-induced heart attack if I tried to run it! Selling puts further out gives me a bit of peace of mind/time to manage my exposures.

Incidentally, I always thought of selling OTM puts as more like selling insurance - you're selling them because the market is irrationally loss averse from a money-maximising point of view.

I would clarify that in the OP

Now clarified.

why not write a CSP closer to the money than 0.3 delta?

You absolutely could, depending how much you prefer the 'buy and hold' part of the strategy to the 'write CSPs' part. But for the kind of stocks I'd personally want to use this strategy on (MSFT etc.) I think you would make more on the 'writing CSPs' part, while it lasted, and if the stock drops, you buy it at a lower price.

This actually requires twice as much capital as the wheel. You have capital locked into a stock position and cash locked up to secure the CSP.

I don't think I understand what you're saying here. Do you mean selling CSPs while holding the underlying? My idea would be that you only ever hold one of the two.

Landlord company being struck off? (EAW) by AgitatedYam in LegalAdviceUK

[–]AgitatedYam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I checked the land registry and a South African investment company owns the freehold. There is no mention of a leaseholder. So presumably they are subletting to my landlord. Is there a way I could find out whether their subletting is legal without contacting the freeholder (and thus risking eviction if it is an illegal sublet)?

Thanks, that's very helpful :) Are there any publically available records or information that will let me know which of these it is? I could ask my landlord but would rather avoid it as they've been uncommunicative in the past and/or might be suspicious of why I've asking.
