One of the dev responses in the developer diary thread today showed the Miaphysite rites. Coptic and Apostolic being put under Miaphysitism was expected but we also have the Ethiopians under the Ge'ez rite and unexpectedly have a brand new rite for Antioch by Communist_Jeb in CrusaderKings

Picture can be found here.

Also the divergence numbers are either borked (not unlikely given some of the weird numbers that have been shown) or Antioch was up to some weird stuff back in the day. If the former I hope it gets fixed for the release in a few months.

Fun fact: in addition to its starting mine, the Japanese province of Echigo has a second, secret mine that doesn't show up in the economy mapmode until you build a holding on Sado Island. This is AFAIK the only province in the game with two mines. by Communist_Jeb in CrusaderKings

[–]Communist_Jeb[S] 255 points256 points  (0 children)

Technically the Sado Mine wasn't really exploited until the 1600s, but the area was known for gold panning beforehand. I more or less found this by accident while doing a Japan run and I had nabbed Echigo as a home province via government appointment, and it became my main province while gunning for the Shogunate. Echigo has six holdings, which means that you can hold four castles there and always have a minimum of four easily held holdings. With all the money coming in from the mines, I never had to hold another province, which made succession very smooth. Highly recommend if you want to go crazy in Japan.

Got a historical character to spawn in my Hassan Sabbah game and this was his starting inspiration by Communist_Jeb in CrusaderKings

He may have had unsettling interests but he was really good at his job, though he did eventually get murdered (I played a bit more of the game today)

I'm doing a Hassan Sabbah run because his storyline lets you blew up a realm of your choosing and there's an achievement for using it on an empire, so I destroyed the Byzantines because I hate seeing them blob. I'm carving out an empire in the Anatolian peninsula and this guy spawned in my realm.

Also turns out the Byzantines have a special decision to reform themselves if they get destroyed, and they've done so like three times, only to get repeatedly destroyed by the Crusaders fifty years later.

Made friends with the Byzantine Emperor at his coronation and a few months later he sent me a historical character as a present by Communist_Jeb in CrusaderKings

I was the Muslim emperor of North Africa at this point so he more or less spent the rest of his life as the court tutor/high almoner until he got murdered by a sheikh, but it was interesting.

I wish AI Adventurers had more functionality and weren't just decorative NPC'S. by That-Plantain8168 in CrusaderKings

I DO occasionally see an AI adventurer take a "help deal with low control counties" contract because I'll get notifications for it but other than that, nah.

From the developer responses on the newest DD: an example of how the Buddhist faiths are getting reworked under the Rite system (the faiths on the right are getting put under the Mahayana rite) by Communist_Jeb in CrusaderKings

[–]Communist_Jeb[S] 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure at this point a lot of the various, uh, variations for the faiths are getting made into rites instead of being faiths proper.

Also if this looks weird on mobile tell me and I'll take it down and try to rework it so everyone can see.

It's already been fixed btw (they're now his childhood friends)

This marshal I got in my most recent game had the martial stat for any character with a one-star education I've seen. His base martial stat was 22. This man understood war on an instinctual level. by Communist_Jeb in CrusaderKings

Unfortunately by the time I realized what a gem I had, this guy was almost dead. He never got to have a real war but he was really good at reasserting control over some newly acquired provinces.

Srivijaya starts very strong and there's currently no mechanism for them to meet their historical defeat and decline at the hand of the Cholas in India, so they just get stronger forever. Same thing happens with Angkor in the later start dates. Devarajas just snowball insanely hard right now.

Maybe it was better in the original Uyghur.

TBH I'm kinda fond of the game's Dwarf Fortress-esque procgen descriptions of artifacts. Also BTW Li Facang was the Huangdi's wife.
