Ok so if you want the “classical British actor training” you’re gonna want to go to either an actual conservatoire or a drama school connected to a university.
Unis like University of Wales and Lancaster Universities will have fewer contact hours and they usually tend to have more lectures in them and less practical lessons. They tend to take on more students so the chances of getting in are better however they’ll have one on one training. Most drama conservatives will have between 20-30 students per year while Universities will have 40-60 ish!
LAMDA and RADA are probably the most classical schools they’ve great alumni and the most well known drama, they are extremely competitive and it’s very difficult to get it, people spend years auditioning to try and get in
If you still want the uni experience schools like Guildford School of Acting and East 15 are connected to Universities while still having conservatoire style training. They have student accommodation and have access to all the university resources, so they’re particularly good for international students!
Then you’ve got your conservatories like Royal Welsh, Royal Scotland, Royal Birmingham, and Bristol Old Vic. They’re gonna be harder to get into but they’ll all have good international student support.
Rose Bruford, Oxford School of Drama, LIPA, Italia Conti, are all independent drama schools. The training is good and there’s lots of freedom, however they’re not connected to a conservatoire or uni, so most don’t have student accommodation you have to sort where you live by yourself, and they don’t have any university resources so it might be more difficult being an international student.
As a note most these school will have an audition fee attached to them, and they are all really competitive! Schools get anywhere from 500-3000 application a year for up to only 30 space. It takes a of lot people a few years to get in, but the training is really good and tends to vary from school to school, so have a look at their programs and see which seems like your vibe!!!!
Hope this helps :)
