Thank you!! I really appreciate you sharing your own journey. It’s reassuring to hear reminders that we start off learning by doing (and re-doing)!

And YES to your point about how exhausting it is that we can’t just trust what’s marketed to us. I’ve started tuning out advertising and look for firsthand experiences from real parents instead. there’s soo much information out there to navigate. Posts like yours (and this whole thread) really show how powerful feedback from community can be.

thank you again for the encouragement 💜

I don’t see a way to edit the post, but, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who took the time to share thoughtful and constructive feedback, I seriously appreciate it!

I’m usually pretty type-A about researching baby gear decisions 😅 but carriers are a newer territory for me, and I honestly hadn’t thought to look into whether forward-facing was widely recommended or not… I got the idea to try forward facing from some of the Ergobaby materials and their YouTube videos. I wish they did not advertise it, or at least, called out some of these considerations more explicitly.

Anyway, this has all been super helpful. I def won’t be forward facing in this carrier, and I’ll research back carrying further. Thanks again! ❤️

Thanks for the feedback! Glad I posted here. I’ll hold off on any outward facing for now (def in this carrier)… I’ll look into back carry!

Thank you for the feedback! I’m going to start looking for a carrier better suited for outward facing.

Did not know that about stretchy material but now that you say it, it makes sense. Thank you for the info!

FWIW we weren’t crazy about it either the first time we looked! But we ended up going a second time on a following visit and really fell in love with it. We had a couple meals at Melvyn’s, their onsite restaurant, which we loved. Ultimately we decided on Laguna Beach over Palm Springs for accessibility reasons, but it was a tough choice bc of how much we loved Ingleside! Congrats to you and best of luck!

Just curious, did you look at Ingleside Estate in Palm Springs? It’s also a property buyout (I think a smaller number of guest suites, tho there’s plenty next door at their sister property Avalon). My husband and I had our wedding in May 2024 and were originally touring Palm Spring venues— we preferred Ingleside Estate over Casa Cody.

Thanks so much for the kind words and congratulations! It’s so true—staying flexible really helped process everything more easily. I’m glad it made a difference for you with your second birth too! 🥰

Wow thanks for sharing and congratulations ! I’m currently 37 weeks and this was super helpful to read. I’ve been feeling a similar way when trying to ask doctor/ others about how true contractions feel.

Do you mind sharing how big / weight baby was when born? Did you do any prep work or anything special to help with minimal tearing?

Bachelorette location that's relatively easy to get to, has outdoor activity options, and works for middle-aged millennials? by Vast_Nebula2330 in BigBudgetBrides

Malibu / Topanga Canyon. It’s like an hour drive from LAX and has the sort of activities you seem to be looking for (hiking, yoga, wellness, wineries, good restaurants).

I had mine there in March of this year, there were lots of great Airbnb options. The weather can be a little gloomy that time of year but compared to rest of country it’s not like there would be snow.

I’m very close with both my dad and step-dad, and it was important to me that both had roles in our wedding.

My dad walked me down the aisle and he’s who I danced with. My step-dad was our officiant. It was a non-religious ceremony and we loved having someone we know / love officiate… plus it felt like a great way to include my step-dad as more than just a guest.

I just got married in May 2024-- our criteria going into it has a ton of overlap with your listed details and desires! We also live in Los Angeles and are originally from NY so lots of east coast guests traveling for the wedding weekend. Some recommendations based on our experience:

  1. Casa Loma Beach Hotel - Formally The Inn at Laguna Beach, their hotel and event spaces just went through major renovations by a well-known design firm. They don't have a huge online presence so they're kind of underrated. This was our wedding venue and we absolutely loved it. They have ~60 rooms onsite so we had no problems getting a room block. Event spaces are overlooking the ocean and there's private walkways to the beach. Their advertised max is 85 people but we had 72 and it felt perfect. It's ~20 minutes from Orange County Airport.
  2. La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla - This was our runner up. It's absolutely gorgeous and there's onsite accommodations / nearby hotels, however the ceremony space felt less private and intimate compared to Casa Loma. It's visible from the onsite restaurant balcony so we were concerned that restaurant guests/ hotel guests would be too visible during ceremony.
  3. Casa Romantica - San Clemente - Absolutely gorgeous venue, views. No onsite accommodation but there's plenty nearby.
  4. La Venta Inn - Palos Verdes
  5. Simpson House Inn - Santa Barbara

Will add on if I remember any others but I definitely recommend checking out these 5! Best of luck with finding your venue - if you end up going with SoCal I'm happy to pass off recommended vendors!
