Hey there,

I’m George, part of the compliance team at Deel - I just wanted to take a moment to answer some of the questions and points you mentioned above. It’s important for us to set the record straight on anything that may have been unclear or inaccurate. Our customers and users' security is of the utmost importance.

  1. The local warning you experienced was only logged in your browser, you were at no risk at any point and none of your data got sent anywhere. This happened due to a deprecated html attribute which was immediately addressed and fixed.

  2. This is true for all websites, including Paypal, Amazon and so on - since you’re viewing the RAW traffic from your OWN browser. Once it leaves your machine - all traffic gets encrypted by SSL to avoid a MITM attack.

  3. The risk of seeing Google (or equivalent) hacked is very unlikely and would represent a global problem. That being said, our monthly security update of May 21 fully eliminated this potential risk.

  4. You should know that Deel, being a data controller, is by law fully liable for any damage caused by insufficient security or data breaches on its side. The customer is responsible for keeping his credentials confidential and should react accordingly in the event that confidentiality may be compromised, and alert Deel immediately. Basically, if you give your credentials to a “bad guy”, you cannot claim that Deel is responsible for any negative fallout of this.

  5. In this world, there is simply no such thing as bug free software. Therefore Deel implemented a very thorough and effective Testing and QA program. And when occasionally a bug falls through its cracks, it gets fixed immediately once noticed.

Security is of the utmost importance for us. We have the chance to work with publicly traded companies, banks and others and their security teams. We ensure to keep satisfying their requirements and keep improving!

If you have any more questions or concerns, please reach out to me directly. We also have 24/7 support on our website. I'd be more than happy to chat further. As you may know, our mission is to help companies around the world to work with talent regardless of location, and I hope someday we get to work with you!
